SEC SCHOOL BOY DONATED ALL HIS POCKET MONEY TO HANDICAP TISSUE SELLER AT MRT

While heading to school today, I saw a lower secondary school boy counting his coins near an escalator of a MRT station. He looked worried so I wanted to approach him and ask if he needed money to head home. While I was inching towards him, he moved in the direction of this handicapped lady on a wheelchair, selling tissues. I stopped next to him, thinking that he may be asking the lady for a few more cents since there was no one else around.

SPARE KOVAN DOUBLE MURDER EX-COP ISKANDAR RAHMAT FROM THE DEATH PENALTY

I am disappointed with the death penalty ruling against disgraced policeman Iskandar Rahmat who was found guilty of murdering two men. The death penalty is not going to solve the problem, it is not going to bring back the dead but add to the body count. It is a primitive form of punishment that has no scientific evidence for deterrence. This is not the kind of solution we want for a democratic country that respects human rights. We are better than that. Iskandar Rahmat should be spared the gallows and spend the rest of his life reflecting on his actions in prison.

KIND S’POREAN BUYS EXTRA MASKS & DISTRIBUTES TO TOURISTS & NEEDY PEOPLE

Last Friday, I saw an uncle walking along the street near my office without a mask. Although he had received masks from the community Centre, but he forgot to bring it along. Fortunately, i have some in my car, so I passed him one. On my way driving home, I also noticed there are people working out doors without a mask and I wished I have more to give them. So during the weekend, I decided to buy a box and bring along with me everyday so whenever I come across someone who needs it I can give them one. I may not be able to help solve the big problem, but the least I can do is to help those I cross path with.

TAXI DRIVER’S ACT OF KINDNESS AMIDST THE TERRIBLE HAZE

Booked a cab and got this message. Act of Kindness amidst the terrible haze. Singapore also can be a pretty cool place if you ask me. The uncle apparently has been doing the same for his other customers. He declines to be named or given recognition cos he feels that it's nothing to make a big fuss of.

ALFIAN SAAT: IDEOLOGY MUST NEVER BLIND US TO ANOTHER PERSON’S HUMANITY

As much as I don't like some of the things Lee Hsien Loong has done as PM, I'm glad to hear that his prostate cancer surgery went well. (Ideology must never blind us to another person's humanity.) And I think that it's a very statesman-like thing to get treatment at the Singapore General Hospital, rather than at any of the private hospitals, which is a ringing endorsement of the standards of our public health system.

ASTEROID HEADED TOWARDS EARTH COULD WIPE OUT HUMANITY IN YR 2880

Humanity could be wiped out by a massive asteroid that is hurtling towards earth at a speed of around 38,000 miles an hour, scientists have warned. The 1950 DA asteroid has a good chance of colliding with earth on 16 March 2880, according to experts at the University of Tennessee. Researchers initially believed that the asteroid had a one-in-300 chance of hitting earth, but revised the odds to one-in-4,000.
