GOVT APPOINTS FOREIGN HR AGENCY TO HELP S'POREANS FIND JOBS

I refer to the article “2nd foreign agency starts work to help PMETs in job search” (Straits Times, Jun 13). It states that “It is the second foreign job-placement agency appointed by the Government under a two-year pilot scheme. The first agency, Ingeus, started operations in April.”

BAN FOREIGN HR PROFESSIONALS TO END JOB DISCRIMINATION AGAINST S'POREANS

After talking to Terry Xu, Chief Editor of theonlinecitizen, which has done numerous stories on foreigners competing with Singaporeans for jobs, having made enquiries in Singapore, Asean and Asian countries – there is apparently some “funny things” going on in HR recruitment – leading to discrimination against Singaporeans.

SINGAPORE HR PRACTICES BIASNESS AGAINST LOCALS

Singapore's high unemployment rate partly contributed by the bad HR recruitment framework. Gender, experiences and age are often the main blocks in the hiring process as hr personnel do not consider the qualified local applicant's inspiration and positive attitude towards the job.

Meaning to say that hr's bias play a bigger role in the structural unemployment in Singapore. Yes, experiences do count but most of the time, they are ridiculously stated beyond reason and then excusably fitted with incompetent FTs, resulting locals deny chances of getting the job.

RESUME TAMPERED WITH TO MAKE APPLICANT LOOK BAD COMPARED TO FT

He asked to see the CV interviewer had, and realised his CV had been cropped and edited, most probably from the HR people. He then lodged complaint to the CEO, and company's internal investigations shown that the recruitment manager from a certain nationality was the culprit, and apparently it was intended to make him look bad so that the manager's "friend" could get the job. Other CVs were also doctored as well, particularly Singaporean applicants.

IDA S'PORE APOLOGISES TO SOON-TO-QUIT EMPLOYEE OVER INSENSITIVE JOB ADVERT

Yesterday, we put out a job recruitment ad for a position at IDA that referred to an employee by name, instead of the job title he was vacating as his contract is ending. It was a mistake made by one of our HR team members, who was new to the recruitment publishing tool and accidentally published the employee’s name instead of the job title.

EVEN COLLEAGUE OF ALICE FONG AKA FOODCOURT SCREAMER CANNOT TAHAN HER

A can of worms have been opened. Seems like "friends" of Alice Fong aka Foodcourt Screamer aka Melon Fong cannot wait to spill the beans on her.

According to a colleague of hers, Alice Fong already has a "reputation" in her office. Til now, Alice Fong, insists that she was not in the wrong over the incident.

This colleague whose name we have blanked out for her safety in case the Hungry Hippo comes charging at her, expressed her disbelief and added:

"Only her hubby and Lee Bee Wah understands (sic) her."

UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE WITH UNPROFESSIONAL HR RECRUITERS FROM RECRUIT EXPRESS

My friend Jonas is a student that is currently on holiday so he is looking for a job. He saw a few ads online last night and decided to message a person regarding a one month position. The person replied this morning and they arranged an interview around 1pm today at the CFP Building at Bishan. The building name is misleading because it turns out to be Recruit Express. He arrived at 1pm sharp and messaged the person of his arrival. She didn't reply. So someone gave him a form to fill up and he waited there with a few other candidates.
