CPF Retirement Sum Should Be Regularly Adjusted, But What About Those Who Cannot Afford?

This was stated by Minister Josephine Teo, whose obscene salary means she will probably no need to set aside any retirement money, as her role as a Minister in the PAP government ensures she is well paid to retire anytime she chooses to. And now, she is telling Singaporeans that they do not have enough money for retirement and they should save more. Would Singaporeans not safe money if they could? Why is the Minister stating the bloody obvious?

With 5 children, and the wife herself not in a job, then financial difficulty is not that unexpected. Maybe more can be done to help the family financial wise. Were they even told where to get help? Desperate, with no help on the horizon, is it any wonder that the housewife was forced to commit the crimes that she did?

Housewives in Singapore have been urged to ask their husbands for top-ups to their own Central Provident Fund (CPF) accounts. Concerned by the low CPF balances of these non-working women, Nee Soon GRC MP Lee Bee Wah advised them to tell their husbands to make full use of the higher interest rates announced in the Budget statement last month. At a public forum held in Nee Soon on Saturday to discuss this year's Budget, Ms Lee noted that the interest rates offered by CPF were much higher than those at commercial banks.
