The National Environment Agency (NEA) has applied for a court summons against Hotpot Culture Restaurants in Marina Square for selling food unfit for human consumption, it said, in a media statement today (Feb 3). The restaurant, which has been suspended since a dead rat was found in a vegetable dish in its porridge buffet spread on Jan 9, had its suspension imposed by the NEA lifted today, after it took measures against signs of rodent infestation uncovered by the authorities.

The owner of rat-infested restaurant Hotpot Culture will be offering an entire day of free food once he gets clearance from the National Environment Agency (NEA) to reopen. “I am really sorry that a lapse happened at our restaurant. I hope that the public will please give me a chance, a helping hand to start again”

The National Environment Agency investigation has revealed that other than the rat carcass found in Hotpot Culture Restaurant, it also had rat droppings on its storeroom floor and on the kitchen false ceiling. Numerous holes were found in these areas and these could be how the rats entered the kitchen.

After today's shocking report that a cooked rat was found in Chinese restaurant Hotpot Culture's buffet line, officers from the National Environment Agency were despatched to the restaurant. After inspection, NEA suspended the Marina Square restaurant with immediate effect and further investigations is ongoing.

I spotted the ‪#‎RAT‬ in the vegetable dish. This was taken at Hotpot Culture at Marina Square for the $8.80 porridge buffet with my colleagues during lunch. When I report it to the staff, they simply remove the dish try and business carried on as usual as though nothing serious happened.
