THE LIFE OF A MALE PROSTITUTE

When Daniel, 33, decided to explore the gay world in 2000, he never thought he would eventually enter the oldest profession of mankind - prostitution. The medium-built and sun-tanned young man from Anhui province asked to be identified only by his first name and declined any photos, but he spoke candidly about his life as a sex worker, offering a rare glimpse into a common subculture that is being overlooked in modern society.

ANTI-GAY & PRO-LGBT ACTIVISTS SHOULD CO-EXIST IN SINGAPORE

But, at the same time I do not violently reject Lawrence Khong, nor do I try to block his every initiative online by trying a fit on social media, because he is free to carry out his activities within certain rules of our democratic society. If one day, IKEA was to promote a musical or a play written by a gay/lesbian, should the conservative Christians likewise attack them on social media? Let’s be more mature, civil and not resort to cyber militancy.

YOUNG HOMOSEXUAL: I DON’T FIT IN ANYWHERE

I don't fit in anywhere, be it my family or the culture of my own country. In one of the rare family reunions that I attended, a mean uncle-in-law of mine compared me with a cousin much younger than me. He went, "T(my cousin) took his girlfriend here to introduce to us. What about you? This year you'll turn 23, but we have never seen you with any girl." Everyone knew that he implied a question about my sexual orientation. I didn't say anything to reply him as I never expected to be asked such kinds of question. I was kinda speechless when a lesbian cousin of mine saved me the embarrassment by saying, '' he is busy studying, don't you see?"

BAEY YAM KENG: A MAN IS NOT A MOTHER, A WOMAN NOT A FATHER

Mr Baey said he was not in support of same-sex marriage. "Man and woman are just made differently. While two men or two women can love and care for a child as good as, or even better than a man-woman couple, we have to understand that a man is not a mother and a woman is not a father," "I may cook better than my wife but I will never be a mother to my three children. Even if my wife becomes the breadwinner, she cannot be their father. To be fair to the child who is innocent and cannot choose, I am not for same gender couples to have and raise children.

NUS FORUM ON FAMILIES ATTRACTS CONTROVERSY OVER PRO-GAY SLANT

National University of Singapore Political Association's (NUSPA) upcoming university forum, "Our Families", has attracted controversy online after supporters of the traditional family took issue with the line-up of speakers invited by NUSPA. Those who opposed the line up said the speakers were too "pro-LGBT" (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) and were concerned that the forum would be "one-sided".

NUS LAW DON WALTER WOON & PROF TOMMY KOH CROSS SWORDS OVER ANTI-GAY SEX LAW

The subject of universal human rights took a local turn at a university forum on Tuesday night, with two top lawyers disagreeing over whether an anti-gay sex law should be done away with. National University of Singapore (NUS) law don Walter Woon said he was in favour of repealing the law because of what he sees as a "constitutional problem". NUS Centre for International Law chairman Tommy Koh agreed that the provision should in principle be done without, but said abolishing it was "not so simple" given potential political pushback. A majority of Singaporeans were against a repeal going by opinion polls, Prof Koh said.

IS THE STRAITS TIMES SPEAKING UP FOR THE LGBT COMMUNITY?

I am disgusted and strongly disagree with The Straits Times for Sunday Life's reporting on Ivan Heng's same sex marriage. Singapore is still a conservative society and if you look at the recent Pink Dot, Wear White and library book events, a huge number of usually apathetic Singaporeans have spoken out against this public parade of the LGBT lifestyle in Singapore. This has gone beyond the confines of my religion and is now a mainstream problem that Singapore is facing. Our children are at risk of growing up in an environment where the 'FREEDOM TO LOVE' takes precedence over common sense and natural procreation.

CHRISTIANS BEHIND THE PRO-FAMILY MOVEMENT ARE DAMN HYPOCRITES

I'm still waiting for Christians in Singapore to show equal passion for protecting "the family" from the sins of adultery, divorce, and premarital sex as they are doing for homosexuality. It's disgusting to see the callous comments by some Christians about "the gay" when they have been so silent on worse vices. Divorce and adultery have destroyed countless families and is explicitly denounced by Jesus. What is FCBC doing about the increasing normalisation of divorce and adultery?

SINGLE MOTHER: NLB BOOK CENSORSHIP LEADS TO INTOLERANCE & BIGOTRY

My daughter and I have a very close relationship. Even though there are only two of us, we are bonded in love and kinship and we are a real family. Together with many friends I know who are single parents, adopted parents, blended-family parents, homosexual men and women, we are real, and we live alongside other Singaporeans from traditional men-woman union, making the same contribution to our country. By removing books not conforming to the prescribed family model, I fear that we are creating an artifical reality for our young children. I fear that my daughter is denied the opportunity to learn the diversity of families and that she will grow to doubt her value as an individual.

MALE GAY COUPLE FROM AMERICA SHOCKED TO BE OPENLY DISCRIMINATED IN SINGAPORE

What's with this trashy behavior Singapore? Why are we being bullied and insulted for our sexuality? We are paying tourists in your country and this is how you treat your guests? For all your beautiful buildings and wonderful infrastructure, the people of Singapore are sorely lacking in common decency and woefully antagonistic towards us. Where is the love Singapore? How can you proclaim yourself a first world nation when such blatant discrimination against sexual minorities still exists?
