$365 million. That is money better spent on food for people who are living paycheck to paycheck, or not even a paycheck at all ! Or slightly larger dorms for low wage migrant workers which won't flare up re-infection of the coronavirus. Between you and me, I would've preferred the $100 in the form of a national rebate to apologize to Singaporean adults for facing possibly the most stupid period in modern history.

PHOTOGRAPHER HIRED TO TAKE WEDDING PHOTOS IN AUSTRALIA MAKE IT INTO OWN HOLIDAY
We hired a Singaporean photographer for our Australian wedding. He lied to us about having an assistant, which we paid a few hundred for and bought his girlfriend. Basically, our wedding was treated as a holiday for him and his "assistant". We paid a lot for him to capture our big day but we didn't get what we hoped for.

A 32 year old man in India was arrested by the police after faking a terror plot in order to avoid going on a holiday with his online girlfriend. Motaparthi Vamshi Krishna's girlfriend had asked him to take her on a trip even though he did not have enough money. He did not want to reject her so he came up with a plan to send her a fake air ticket and make the airport cancel the flight. His way of doing this was to send a hoax email to the police about hijacking planes in various Indian cities. His fake tip off resulted in tighter security at airports in Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai but no flights were cancelled. Krishna was arrested for charges such as impersonation and providing false information. He is a travel agent who is already married with a child. Wah, so romantic. Got so desperate not?

Volunteers and I have been trying to help a domestic worker find a new employer after things didn't work out with the previous one. After 3 rounds of interviews, the agent calls me in exasperation. This is too much. She is too fussy. I spent all that taxi fare on her, bring her for interviews at employer's house but she is not interested. She wants 2 days off a month. Is she here to work or to enjoy a holiday? Employer can at most give 1 day off, not 2. Because of this she doesn't want the job?

The Ministry of Education has really got to make up their mind on the definition of "holiday". When you give students 2 assignments, a project, and loads of other homework and having to revise for a damn test ON THE WEEK after June Holidays is over, is that really a holiday, or more of a "home based learning" or "study-at-home month"? Because that's what I think would be a more appopriate name for this period of "holidays".

Check out the traffic cameras for the causeways. Despite all the talk from our Ministers urging Singaporeans to stay in SG to celebrate SG50 during this super long weekend, the causeways are jammed packed. Nobody seems to give a two hoots about what our Ministers request us to do. As a learned kaki says, "Ministers don't listen to the people. People don't listen to ministers. Its all fair."

According to findings from Randstad's Q2 2015 Workmonitor research, one in three Singapore employees find it hard to let go of work even while on a holiday.
