YISHUN POLYCLINIC STAFF THREATENED ME & MY HUSBAND, TRY TO COVER UP UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

As a patient, as a customer, how would you feel if people from healthcare, threatened you that if you raised up a bit of your volume they will chase you out, chase money after you like loan shark, when you brought up the issue to the management, the management will protect the staff and put words into your mouth? Recently my husband and I met this kind of situation. I always thought that people who work under healthcare will provide us their professional services, however, in Yishun Polyclinic, it seems like whatever you done or raised up to the management, management will threaten you and they will stand up for the person even though the person is at fault.

SUBSIDIZED PUBLIC HEALTHCARE COST MORE THAN PRIVATE HOSPITALS?

Why is it that patients who are referred from a private clinic (other than Chas scheme card holders) may not be allowed to choose class C or B2 treatment? Also, why are patients typically told that they may have to wait for months for diagnostic tests or treatment, if they choose subsidised treatment (class C and B2) against treatment in class B1 and A?

GOVT INFLATING CONSULTATION FEES TO MAKE MEDICAL SUBSIDIES LOOK GOOD?

The consultation fee for a neighbourhood private doctor is usually between $20-$30. Public polyclinic is supposed to be cheaper than private clinics. How in the world can a public medical service be much expensive? It's either the authorities are inflating the consultation fee and then makes it look like the gov is heavily subsidizing our medical cost or our doctors working at polyclinics are being paid super scale salary that rival the private sectors. I know the latter isn't true.

IS SINGAPORE PREPARED FOR THE INEVITABLE MERS EPIDEMIC?

The hospital said so, Hsien Loong also said so. This is a true sign of being prepared for it. The hospitals are all well prepared and equipped with all the protocols in place. MOH has also started to screen passengers from South Korea. With the rapid spread of MERS there, we know that they have fouled up badly. We cannot do less than them. We have our experience with SARS and know exactly what to do.The govt is well prepared, are the people and commercial organizations well prepared as well?

PROOF THAT GOVT NEVER SPEND ANY MONEY ON HEALTHCARE?

Since Government Health Expenditure (operating and development) was $4.8 and $5.9 billion, in FY12 and FY13, respectively – does it mean that from a cashflow perspective – there was hardly any Government spending at all? For example, the increase of $5.5 billion in Total Medisave Balances from 2011 to 2012, was actually more than the the Government Health Expenditure of $4.8 billion in FY12.
