HEARTLAND BROTHELS THRIVING AFTER GEYLANG ILLEGAL VICE CLAMPDOWN

Ms Vanessa Ho, director of sex workers' rights group Project X, believes increased police raids on unlicensed brothels in Geylang could have resulted in businesses moving to public housing. "We know a handful of sex workers who work out of HDB flats, and I estimate that there must be hundreds of such brothels," she said. Enforcement action since January shows at least 82 women have been arrested for suspected involvement in vice activities within residential areas and units.

MORE HOMELESS PEOPLE SEEN AT HDB ESTATES AND MALLS

Lately, been reading more and more reports of people who are homeless being more open about their situation, and can be seen making public spaces as their temporary homes. But now, you can see them everywhere. On the beaches, in shopping malls, eateries, near supermarkets and in multi purpose halls in HDB estates. MSF had said that the number of homeless people in Singapore had not gone up, but they have not gone down either. It is only because they are now more visible that the homeless come into the thoughts of Singaporeans.

SHADY SPAS OPEN IN HDB ESTATE IS ALLOWED NOW?

Noticed lately that there are more spas opening up their shops in neighbourhood estates. Some spas open 24 hours, near kopitiam or beside supermarket, not even in town centres, but in the heart of the HDB estates. Are all these spas the good ones, not those shady types? How come I see mostly uncles and young men go to the spas, and mostly at night only? The people working at the spas are certified or not? How come spas can easily open in HDB estates one? No more checks done by the authorities?
