OPEN LETTER TO AMOS: GIVE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, DON'T CRITICISE FOR THE SAKE OF IT

Singaporean Lee Yue Heng wrote an open letter to Amos Yee to question the purpose of his criticisms. He is against criticism stemming from hate and urged Amos to go about constructive criticism that is intended to make Singapore a better society.

LAW SOCIETY TAKES ON AMERICAN JUDGE IN AMOS YEE CASE

And so it has begun. The Singapore authorities, this time via the Law Society of Singapore, has come out and spoken out against the findings about Singapore's criminal justice system by US judge Samuel Cole, in allowing asylum for Mr Amos Yee in the United States .

The Law Society indicated that the judge's opinion in the judgment appears to gloss over the critical fact that Mr Yee was lawfully prosecuted in a court of law. They also indicated that allowing immunity for hate speech only encourages the undermining of values in a functional democracy.

Amos Yee was arrested for hurting the religious feelings of Muslims and Christians in Singapore. Do you know after his arrest, an angmoh youtube star took issue with Amos Yee's arrest and started an online campaign demanding the Singapore Govt to drop all charges against Amos Yee. He threatened to humiliate the DPP in charge of prosecuting Amos and gave him 5 days to drop all charges against Yee.

MEDIA LITERACY COUNCIL: CALVIN CHENG'S COMMENTS INSENSITIVE, NOT HATE SPEECH

Although Mr Cheng did not in my view engage in hate speech, as a member of the Council he has to visibly uphold the values that the Council espouses. In this instance, his comments were insensitive and therefore inappropriate for a member of the MLC. I have spoken to Mr Cheng and counselled him that as a member of the Council he will be held to and judged by a higher standard compared to a private citizen.

It is not in my temperament to take legal action or make police reports, simply because I'd rather spend the time reading and writing. But this goes out to the admins and members of WAAPD (in case they don't understand whatever I pasted above): you want to circulate unscientific garbage from conspiracy sites, fine. But keep your discussions to issues. I know it's much easier to dangle some individual figure on your page and set off a spitting frenzy, but you'll just have to rise above such base levels of 'discussion'.
