Local blogger Han Hui Hui was questioned by police for seven hours on Friday over a protest she organised at Hong Lim Park that disrupted a charity carnival last month, the police confirmed on Saturday. But they denied online reports that officers turned up at her house at midnight the night before, or that she was not allowed to eat during her interview. In a statement on Saturday night, a police spokesman said Ms Han is among "several persons" involved in the incident who are currently assisting them in investigations. The probe has been ongoing since a police report was lodged on Sep 27, the day the protest was held.

JUST THROW ROY NGERNG AND HAN HUI HUI INTO JAIL
Juz throw Roy and New Citizen Han Hui Hui into jail for a few weeks (sure can find a suitable charge). Maybe even put them into isolation. As this article shows people even confess to crimes they never committed when isloated (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/special/2014/newsspec_7617/index.html). Happened in a country not known for rough interrogation methods, and which respects human dignity and rights.

Dear Ms Han, Please stop your nonsense!!! Moderate Singaporean will not like what they see in you. Yes, you have brought about some good points in CPF issues. Yes, you have shown courage in speaking to the crowd opposing and pointing out some good points that the Government has not done enough. But, the manner you put across these issues are not welcome at all by moderate Singaporeans.

The bombshell landed when a 17 minute video surfaced which showed Roy and Han have marched towards the YMCA stage three times and disrupted the performance on stage with their unruly behaviour. PAP junior Minister Teo Ser Luck who was the VIP for the YMCA event has become the target of Roy & Han when they screamed into the loudhailers demanding him to “Return Our CPF”. Some of the supporters of Roy & Han have even gotten physically close to Teo and displayed signs of aggression.

I am a SDP party member who cannot help but disagree with Chee Soon Juan's position that we should just forgive RN, HHH and Co's bad behaviour because "freedom" means having the "freedom to make mistakes". (http://yoursdp.org/news/criticise_if_we_must_but_let_us_also_encourage/2014-09-30-5882) The gist of what he said is that we should let things be, "criticize if we must" and excuse the mistakes. Extremely low weight was placed on responsibility. Holding people responsible for their actions is a must, not something to be done "if we must".

Speaking up for the people is not about making defamatory statements and riling people up with anger and hatred. It's also not about being so blinded by protest and perceived politicization to the extent that we forget how to be thoughtful and caring human beings. We've been going through a lot of change as a nation in the past decade, and clearly things have started becoming a lot more polarized and tense especially in the past couple of years. Instances such as this may sometimes leave us disheartened that the country is going down the wrong track in terms of political maturity.

It is both saddening and maddening that even "activists" would attempt to justify their actions with nothing more than a flimsy conspiracy theory. A wealthy, powerful government such as ours would not arrange a scheduling conflict to silence insignificant protesters; such trivialities do not concern them. Should it truly intend to prevent a protest, it can easily do so even before any of the protesters set foot in the designated location.

And once you've lost Mr Brown, you've lost public opinion. Let's call it the Mr Brown Index. You can't dismiss him as a PAP supporter (as you may former SPH journalist Bertha Henson despite her branding herself as a "troublemaker") since Mr Brown famously lost his gig as a Today newspaper columnist in 2006 after a complaint from the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts over an article he wrote. (Sure, he was later invited to tea with the PM at the Istana in 2012, but so was Andrew Loh.)

The National Parks Board (NParks) has responded (29 Sep) to criticism that it should not have allowed 2 events to take place simultaneously at Hong Lim Park on Saturday (27 Sep). NParks said there have been multiple events – even those with clashing agendas – at Hong Lim Park previously with “no adverse or disorderly incidents”.

Roy has asked to meet with the children and parents to apologise to them. This is the right thing to do. I met Roy several weeks ago. He is a thoughtful individual and no one should believe that he intentionally targeted his or the group's actions at the children who were performing that afternoon. It is important, nevertheless, that both he and Hui Hui offer an apology to the children.
