Giant Sembawang Branch Mistakenly Restricts Some Payment By Budget2020 Grocery Vouchers

Our contributor went to Giant at Sembawang Shopping Centre to buy some items like frozen stuff, baby stuffs mainly food and drinks. When he tried to make payment using the Budget2020 Grocery Vouchers which were issued by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the cashier said he could not use the vouchers for the full transaction.

Not sure if anyone notice. NTUC groceries price seems to have gone up by about 20%. Many fresh produce usually one offer or 1 for 1 seems to have disappear. All these happened right after the new announcement that we have to be prepared that food supplies disruption. If you notice or this is worth a thought. EIU SURVEY: SINGAPORE REMAINS THE MOST EXPENSIVE CITY IN THE WORLD

Singapore has retained its position as the world's most expensive city, according to research by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). The top five most expensive cities in the world remain unchanged from a year earlier and include, in descending order, Paris, Oslo, Zurich and Sydney. Singapore was found to be 11% more expensive than New York for basic groceries.

HAWKER FOOD AND GROCERIES INCREASED BY 3% LAST YEAR

There has been a greater on-year increase in the prices of hawker food and groceries last year as compared to 2013, Minister of Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang said in parliament today. In a written reply to a parliamentary question, Mr Lim said the prices of hawker food increased 3% on-year in 2014, while it increased 1.9% on-year in 2013.
