READER: WHY MOTHERS WANT TO TRAVEL WITH THEIR KID DURING PEAK HOURS

I read w amusement how an angry mom w 3year old kid on the MRT was pissed off bcos no one offers their seat to them. Let's get real, people should not "expect" others to meet their expectations and please do not try to use the "courtesy" excuse. This 'sense of entitlement' is really getting 'old'. When people get on the MRT, realistically speaking, they do not have an 'obligation' to give up their seat. The choice to do so is a personal one. If they choose not to do so, let it be. At 6.30pm when most people get off work, many are generally mentally n physically fatigued. We can question why must the mother be travelling during peak hours with an infant.

BE MORE GRACIOUS S’POREANS, FOREIGNERS ARE NOT OUR PUNCHING BAGS

I am hoping, my fellow Singaporeans, that we not be too quick to judge someone, just based on where they come from. Be more gracious and welcoming. Keep ourselves in check and refrain from “tiong", “pinoy” this and “bangala” that. They are not our punching bag for everything wrong with Singapore, most are here making an honest living in search of a better life for themselves and their families - not unlike our grandparents whom, if you forgot, were immigrants too!

Customers should be gracious towards service staff

I refer to the Sunday Life! Report “I am the customer, I have the right to call you stupid” (May 4). Ungracious customer behavior spoils image of the service industry as service staff are treated badly by customers. There is a need for better etiquette and common courtesy by customers. It is hard to give good service too when a customer behavior is questionable.
