PAP UNVEILS SEMBAWANG GRC TEAM

The People's Action Party announced today that Sembawang Group Representative Constituency (GRC) will be headed by Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan, who will be running with old team mates Dr Lim Wee Kiak, Mr Vikram Nair, former election hopeful Mr Ong Ye Kung - a director of group strategy at Keppel Corporation who is making his second attempt to enter Parliament - and 36 year-old corporate lawyer and PAP newcomer Amrin Amin.

MEGA CHILDCARE CENTRES TO BE OPENED IN SENGKANG & PUNGGOL NEXT YEAR

2 mega childcare centers will open in Sengkang and Punggol by the middle of next year, which will open up more than 1,000 places for children of parents residing in those areas. The Sengkang center will be run by NTUC First Campus' My First Skool, while E-Bridge Pre-School will run the one in Punggol. Construction has begun at the Sengkang center, work will begin at the Punggol site next week.

PAP MINISTER OF STATE TAKING POTSHOTS AT OPPOSITION?

It seems that even though the prime minister has yet to announce the dissolution of parliament officially, the gloves are off for some members of the People's Action Party. Yesterday, East Coast GRC MP Lee Yi Shyan, who is also Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of National Development, gave thanks to the hard work and commitment by the East Coast GRC team for working hard on the ground since GE 2011, but issued a veiled warning to opposition parties wanting to contest in the ward.

NSP PULLS OUT OF MARINE PARADE GRC, AVOIDS MULTI-CORNER FIGHT WITH WP

The National Solidarity Party (NSP) announced today that it would pull out of Marine Parade and MacPherson in the upcoming General Election (GE) to avoid a multi-corner fight with the Workers' Party (WP) and incumbent People's Action Party (PAP). This is despite receiving no response from the WP over its attempts to jointly resolve the issue.

PAP MP FOR TAMPINES IRENE NG STEPS DOWN

Ms Irene Ng, a member of the People's Action Party team for Tampines Group Representative Constituency (GRC), has announced that she will not be running the upcoming general elections. The 3 term member of parliament (MP), said that she had asked Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong some time last year if she could step down for the sake of party leadership renewal.
