The new candidates introduced at the conference were Ms He Ting Ru, Mr Ron Tan, Mr Adrian Sim and Mr L Somasundaram. WP Party chairman Sylvia Lim and Mr Png Eng Huat were present to lend their support to the new candidates.

The People’s Action Party (PAP) has officially unveiled today its candidates for East Coast Group Representation Constituency (GRC) who will contest the upcoming General Elections (GE). A day after introducing its first 2 candidates Chong Wai Fung and Gerous Khung Wai Yeen, the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) announced today another 2 candidates who would be contesting under its banner in the upcoming General Elections (GE). They are Professor of medicine Paul Ananth Tambyah and sales director Jaslyn Go Hui Leng. Dr Tambyah is a professor of medicine and a senior lecturer at the National University of Singapore and was a founding member of human rights activist group MARUAH. He has since left MURUAH, but has continued to be active with the SDP since he started a decade ago. Speaking to reporters at a press conference at the SDP AMK branch, he said he would like to focus on healthcare financing.

The Workers' Party (WP) has officially introduced 4 of its non-Member of Parliament (MP) candidates today and announced its campaign theme of "Empower your future". This year, the WP will contest 28 seats, 3 more seats than it did in 2011, but has remained adamant that it would only name the candidates that will represent them at the various constituencies on 1st September. The WP is expected to contest against the PAP in Nee Soon GRC, Jalan Besar GRC, East Coast GRC, Marine Parade GRC, Seng Kang West SMC, Fengshan SMC and MacPherson SMC.
