S’POREANS BEWARE: GIVE US ONE CHICKEN WING, COLLECT BACK WHOLE CHICKEN

Netizens are wondering, never have the ruling party been so generous, what is their agenda? What is cooking in their “sick” mind? Is it vote buying as the next GE cannot be held later than Jan 2017 and the ground is deemed “sweet”? Can it be a case of giving you with the left hand and taking back with the right? There is even speculation that it is the same old tactic of giving you $1 and taking back $10 back in future.

EVEN MY 88 YEAR OLD FATHER HAS LOST FAITH IN THE PAP GOVT

The ruling party is really getting desperate & I believe info from the ground reveal that they are very vulnerable of losing big this GE. In my dad own words, the current bunch of useless, highly paid young minister has life too easy & implement irrational policy, greed & think highly of themselves. He has lost faith of the ruling government & unhappy with such issue like the CPF which was saving started by the old guards which was a good policy & they could enjoy the fruit of their labour at 55.

TEN POSSIBLE SCENARIOS AFTER THE DEMISE OF LEE KUAN YEW

The soon-coming general election will probably be called 3-6 months after his demise to garner sympathy votes which may arrest the plummeting popularity of the ruling party. Voters who sit on the fence may just vote for the PAP out of gratitude for someone who has brought a small fishing port from third to first world within four decades. Though he is a established tyrant, his achievements far outweigh his gross shortcomings especially those atrocities that targetted his political opponents.

MIA MP ALVIN YEO SUDDENLY WANTS TO HAVE CHIT CHAT SESSION WITH RESIDENTS

I can honestly tell you that for more than 10 years, we have never received such an invitation. I didn’t bother to go cause I know it’s just a wayang wanting to show that the MP cares. I mean if you really care for us, why wait for more than 10 years to have this “chit chat session” with us? Just because GE is coming and you are really afraid that you might get kicked out this time? I also felt quite insulted with the free breakfast thrown in to entice us to go. I know some of my neighbours went just for the free makan.

SDP NEED TO WALK THE GROUND MORE IN SEMBAWANG GRC

SDP announced on January 19 that they will do their first walkabout since they launched their GE campaign. The walkabout was scheduled yesterday, 25th Jan from 8 am to 12 pm and the selected places were Sembawang GRC and Holland-Bukit Timah GRC. It is good that SDP is focussing on walkabouts but I honestly have to say that their method isn't good.

SPH EDITOR: HOW CAN THE PAP RULE US FOR ANOTHER 50 YEARS?

Mr Han Fook Kwang, SPH’s Editor-At-Large, wrote an article today (‘PAP in decline? But what if…’, 9 Nov) speculating under what scenarios PAP can continue to remain in power for the next 50 years. He started by asking, “What is it about Singapore that when people talk about its future, it is almost always about whether the ruling party will remain in power?” Specifically, he mentioned the recent public talks given by Ho Kwon Ping and former Minister George Yeo.

With the January 2017 deadline for the next General Election looming closer, the Elections Department (ELD) has been calling up public servants for training to be election officials, as part of the electoral process. Teachers spoke to confirmed that they have received letters — some last month and others in the past week — informing them that they have been identified as election officials, and requiring them to complete an online training module before attending in-person training at a later date.

LEE HSIEN LOONG: TIN PEI LING HAS WON OVER HEARTS & MINDS OF MACPHERSON RESIDENTS

In a Facebook status posted today, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong praised Ms Tin Pei Ling, MP for Marine Parade GRC, for having worked hard to win over the hearts and minds of her residents. He wrote: "In the last general election, I sent Tin Pei Ling, our youngest candidate, to MacPherson, which has many old residents. I was confident that she could establish rapport with the uncles and aunties, and serve residents well. "The last three years have proved this so. Pei Ling and her team of activists and volunteers have worked hard. Some were sceptical at first, but she and her team have won over many hearts and minds."

THE ELOQUENT BOY WHO BROKE OUR HEARTS

As a Singaporean who voted for SDP during GE2011, I am now regretting my decision to support them in Holland-Bukit Timah GRC. I thought I was voting for a credible and competent voice in Dr. Vincent Wijeysingha but I have been sorely disappointed. During the elections, Dr. Vincent came acrossed as a learned, measured and capable man, a man who could connect with Singaporeans, a man whom we could trust. But events surrounding Dr. Vincent after his SDP departure made me lose my respect for the man I once believe in.
