JOO CHIAT SMC: A CLEAR CASE OF GERRYMANDERING?

"I think the playing field is level, if you do your work on the ground consistently," says the Deputy Prime Minister with the extensible Pinnochio nose. Explain that to Workers' Party's Yee Jenn Jong who literally walked the ground tirelessly for 4 years since the last General Election to recover from a narrow loss by 388 votes. If the dissolution of Joo Chiat is not a clear case of gerrymandering, what is?

ALL OTHER OPPOSITION PARTIES SHOULD GIVE WAY TO THE WORKERS PARTY

I understand that each party has its own ideals and philosophies and a burning genuine desire to get a proper channel to speak out on our behalf in Parliament. However, every party must, at this point in time, recognise the bigger picture. This is no time to have any multi-cornered fight : such will only benefit the PAP and defeat the very purpose of the mission.

IF A DOG STANDS FOR ELECTION AGAINST THE PAP, I WILL VOTE FOR IT

Election is coming already and all Singaporeans need to do the right thing. This is Singaporean's one in five year chance to teach the PAP a lesson. After 5 years of no results and many problems disrupting our lives, it is time to make a strong stand and vote against the incumbents. PAP LACKS POLITICAL CONTROL TO CONTAIN UNHAPPINESS OF OVER-POPULATION?

Much have been discussed on this topic, the arbitrary figure of 10 million is reached top down by the PAP based on optimal economic sustainability supported by an achievable land density. Singaporeans have reacted, like Roy Ngerng, providing the bottom up sentiment. What is left is now the skill to balance, the political skill to achieve equilibrium. Over the last decade, PAP has pushed the limits of letting foreigners in, failing to balance the infrastructure needs and social tolerance. As such, it has resulted in a heavy backlash.

WP YOUTH WING LEADER: EXPECT MAJOR BOUNDARY CHANGES TO ALJUNIED GRC!

On a serious note, there is a possibility of Kaki Bukit division being carved out from Aljunied GRC and do expect major boundary changes to Aljunied GRC: 4-member GRC comprising Kaki Bukit, Kembangan-Chai Chee, Bedok South and Simei. Goh Chok Tong will lead Marine Parade GRC. Tan Chuan Jin will lead the new [Bedok] GRC. This has many interesting implications. The AJ team will be left without a Malay MP in Aljunied and forces WP to make a change of MP at the Eunos division, taking Pritam Singh out. Strategic dilemma for the WP immediately but also an opportunity, freeing up Pritam Singh. On the flip side, it is an admission that Faisal has done a good job as MP over the period of one parliamentary term.
