PAP SEND LOWLY GRASSROOTS LEADER TO CONTEST IN HOUGANG SMC DEATHTRAP

The PAP announced on Saturday that grassroots leader Lee Hong Chuang will be sent to contest in Hougang SMC during the upcoming GE against WP incumbent Png Eng Huat. Mr Lee replaces "Hougang Boy" aka Desmond Choo who contested twice and lost during GE2011 and the by-election after WP MP Yaw Shin Leong was expelled from the WP due to an extra-martial affair.

COLUMBARIUM PLAGUED LAM PIN MIN TO DEFEND POSITION IN SENGKANG WEST SMC

Member of Parliament Lam Pin Min will stand as the PAP candidate in Sengkang West in the coming General Election. In the last GE, Dr Lam won 58.11% of the vote against WP candidate Koh Choong Yong. WP has indicated its intentions to contest in SengKang West again this coming GE. It remains to be since whether Dr Lam can defend his position in SengKang West especially after the series of high profile gaffes in his constituency.

MEDIA SURVEY: 74% OF S’POREANS SAY THEY ARE SATISFIED WITH GOVT PERFORMANCE

Despite the almost daily deluge of complaints about Singapore on social media – 74 per cent of a sample of voters surveyed recently say that they are satisfied with their life in Singapore. Asked about the Government’s performance since the 2011 General Election – 64 per cent said it was “good” or “very good”, 23 per cent felt it was “okay” and 10 per cent said it was “not so good or poor”.

ONG YE KUNG MAKES POLITICAL RETURN IN PAP’S SEMBAWANG GRC LINE-UP

On Friday (14 August 2015), the PAP officially announced its candidates for Sembawang GRC. It comprises of Khaw Boon Wan, Vikram Nair, Lim Wee Kiak as well as two new faces Amrin Amin and Ong Ye Kung. The two new candidates will replace veteran PAP MP Hawazi Daipi and current STTA president Ellen Lee, who will not be retiring from politics.

The Transport Minister is flexing his muscles to the max, "I encourage the PTC to pass on this 1.9 per cent reduction fully to commuters." You're the man, Lui, why not go the whole hog and demand a 5.0 % reduction from the "independent" PTC? Heck, push it to 50% - in line with the current SG50 mania - and the electorate will make you president.

WHY IS THE GST VOUCHER SO STINGY DURING AN ELECTION YEAR

So you have right to demand that this election the GST voucher is grossly insufficient and another payout is due. Of course I’m not saying your vote can be bought, if you get an unexpected additional payment next month, good. But hey, don’t you think that you deserved one in the first place? And if you are not given one, you should take that into consideration along with the other factors when you cast your vote come Election Day.
