Groups here have raised more than $1 million for relief efforts in the Gaza Strip, where more than 1,800 people have died since Israel launched an offensive nearly a month ago. In total, Bapa and other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as Mercy Relief and the Singapore Red Cross have raised more than $1 million.

PINOY LADY UNHAPPY WITH DISPLAY OF PALESTINIAN FLAGS DURING PEACEFUL GAZA GATHERING

I would like to register my displeasure and regret to MHA for the organizer & speakers having blatantly displaying the Palestinian flag during their protest which is breaching the rules of the licensing conditions.
I would like to say that I find the act of these people most hypocritical as, if you had remembered, there was a previous outpouring of scorn when organizers of the Philippine Independence Day had intended to celebrate it in Ngee Ann City along with a flag raising ceremony.

Finally, One PAP MP Show Support For Gazans

This Israel response to the Hamas attack had been described by a reporter as akin to Mike Tyson punching a baby that spat on him. Israel has claimed the right to defend themselves but, their response has been described as disproportionate by an Israel human right activist. It is indeed heart wrenching to see images of innocent children being killed and the agony of their parents. Unless both sides agree to a truce and work towards PEACE, the violence will continue and more innocent people will lose their lives and families.

LEE HSIEN LOONG: HUNDREDS OF INNOCENT KILLED IN GAZA, DONATE GENEROUSLY TO MUIS GAZA HUMANITARIAN FUND

In the last week, the armed conflict in Gaza has hotted up. Hundreds of people have been killed, mostly civilians, including many children and infants. The loss of innocent lives is tragic and painful. The Middle East is far away, but still we empathise with the pain and suffering of the Palestinian people, because of our common humanity. Alas there is no easy solution. The Israel-Palestinian problem goes back almost a century. The distrust and enmity are mutual, and deep. Yet there is no future in this endless cycle of violence and retribution.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says that it neutralized an explosive-laden donkey that was said to be heading toward Israeli troops in Gaza on Friday. And by neutralized, we mean, the explosives were set off with gunfire. According to the IDF, using explosive-rigged animals to attack Israeli troops has an not-so-illustrious past including donkeys and dogs.

Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said it welcomes and supports a ceasefire proposal by Egypt. A week of Israeli bombardments to stop cross-border rocket fire has claimed nearly 200 lives in Gaza so far. “We are deeply concerned about the deteriorating humanitarian crisis and the continued conflict in Gaza,” an MFA spokesman said in a statement.
