Newly appointed DPM and PM-in-waiting Heng Swee Keat says that he is contemplating whether or not Singapore should continue with the very "constructive politics" that have been employed for the past 50 years. He also said that global and tech savvy Singaporeans represents the way forward and that the government will do well to harness these talent in order to move Singapore forward into the future.

A netizen who is against the reserved Presidential Election said he would rather vote for someone who will donate all his salary and make it like a "prerequisite" for future Presidential candidates. What do you think?

A netizen thinks Singapore is no longer on the frontier because we are always waiting for the Government to "say the word", study and approve proposals. By the time this happens, our future will become yesterday. Do you agree?

I have been attending the almost monthly FOSG (Future of Singapore) public forums at the Agora, initiated and organised by Professor Tay Keng Soon. They are very interesting discussions by notable Singaporeans like Toh Han Shih, Jack Sim, Donald Low, Yeoh Lam Keong, etc, about the future of Singapore - which got me thinking ...In the last 20 years or so, I have written a few thousand articles, made a few hundred presentations, had a few hundred letters published in newspaper forums, etc. Since most of the time - I am analysing statistics - I try not to talk too much about suggested solutions, as I feel that I am just an ordinary citizen who does not have access to the information, resources, etc, that may be needed to make meaningful policy suggestions. Well, for a change - here are my humble suggestions on what policies may need to be reviewed to make the lives of Singaporeans better, particularly for lower income Singaporeans - in the hope that my fellow Singaporeans may contribute their ideas and comments too, and enrich the policy review processes of our policy makers

Anyway, my take is that a lot of people gamble because it is the only “hope” for them. They see no “hope” in their jobs in the future. As they get older, their wages start to fall and they also fear losing their jobs (retirement study commissioned by the Ministry of Manpower). They see no “hope” in their lifestyle in the future, as the cost of living keeps rising (most expensive city in the world, The Economist).

When you kids do not perform well there are many reasons. One of the reasons being as parents, if you are not an achiever, you do not know how to achieve but you know how to pressurise them.

Brace yourselves for a tough times ahead... Singapore GDP is going downward, export of all goods are declining, foreign investments is less compared to previous year and unemployment among Singapore citizens is rising. Singaporean should be well informed in their future economics perspectives. It seem that 2016 may not look so rosy and bright for the time being.

Many have asked me to share how I managed to achieve my O and A levels within 2 years with just PSLE EM3 knowledge. To succeed in what I did, I had to be very determined in what I want to achieve. It is easy to say "I will do it and I will get there" but when it comes to doing it, it is a different story. And I think the first step to success is to really, truly and wholly recognize the fact that what we say is totally disengaged from what we do. In other words, we shouldn't give ourselves false hope.

WP believes that the best way to integrate immigrants is through the family unit and not through importing foreign labour who have no roots in Singapore. Singaporeans with a non-citizen spouse often face disruptions to their family life which creates stress and anxiety for the child when they have to separate from one parent who is on a short-term visit pass. Giving foreign spouses priority for citizenship after 5 years on the long-term visit pass will help alleviate the situation for this group of people.
