Singaporeans are always told the influx of foreign talent is good for us, for it will create wealth for us further down the road. Foreign influx rendering many Singaporeans unemployed and underemployed is not something based on fact, we are told. "Please do not politicize this issue" is the refrain we get from our Millionaire Ministers.

The current company I work for tried hiring locals for over a year for 2 positions. Not one person was qualified. Worse still, those that were quite qualified began asking about travelling business class and asking for parking privileges. WTF! They didn't even get the job and already started to state demands. Locals. The 2 that that moved from overseas to get the positions gave up their lives and moved. They love it here and have integrated so well it's unbelievable. Another case. Local guy fresh out of university was given the chance of a lifetime. A good salary but working in Tuas. He lives near Bt Timah. Turned down the offer.Why? "Tuas too far la bro. Must wake up 6am go to work".

The Ministry of Health already announced in Parliament that in the next three years, Singapore would need about 9,000 workers in the healthcare industry. The government will support this search for 9,000 workers by investing $24m in the sector. Half of the jobs at the new facilities and services in the public healthcare and community care sectors are Professional, Manager, Executive and Technician (PMET) level roles. The big question here now is, will the bulk of these 9,000 jobs going to be filled up by Singaporeans, or are we going to see more influx of foreign talent? 9,000 new jobs is a huge number, given the recent reports of unemployment rate among Singaporeans also slightly rising. But, not many people are invested in the healthcare sector. So, will these 9,000 new jobs provide the answer for the jobless?

its been happening for many years. whether they stay here for long or short term, they contribute their taxes, pay rental etc etc. with 1 of them leaving, 2-3 more will come in to fill the gap.

Should we feel honoured to be scolded by new citizens who think we are always complaining and not appreciating Singapore? When your home country is a smelly third world slum with rapists and robbers everywhere, anywhere else looks like heaven!
