OBIKE ALLOWS TAMPINES RESIDENTS ONE MONTH FREE RIDES ON THEIR BIKES

The oBike Service will be officially launched today, and the beneficiaries of this bike sharing scheme are the Tampines residents. oBike had announced a partnership with the Tampines Town Council, and with the launch of the service, Tampines residents will be eligible for a free one-month oBike service upon registration. This will enable them to test out the service for a month first, without any fees to be paid, and see if this works for them. Once the trial period is over, the Tampines residents who wants to join in the scheme, can download the app on their smartphones and pay a deposit of $49 with a credit/debit card or via Paypal. Through the in-app map, users are able to locate oBikes, which are equipped with GPS technology.

I went to the customer service counter at jem to redeem 2 pieces of wrapping paper presenting my receipt. To my surprise, I was asked to present my nric for the redemption. These 2 pieces of wrapping paper probably cost less than 50cts! Isnt the receipt sufficient to account for the wrapping papers issued?

LESSER FREE PARKING ON SUNDAYS CARPARKS COMPARED TO 6 YEARS AGO

Senior Minister of State for National Development Desmond Lee said in Parliament on Tuesday (Apr 5) that there are now fewer public carparks which have free parking on Sundays, compared to six years ago. Currently, 55 per cent of Government and Statutory Board car parks offer free parking on Sundays. This compares to about 70 per cent in 2005 and 2010, Mr Lee said in response to a question from Non-Constituency Member of Parliament Leon Perera. “Certainly, we want to offer free parking on Sunday as much as possible,” Mr Lee said. “(But) in assessing whether to provide free parking, agencies have to balance the specific needs and parking demands of the area.
