Two foreign workers are in critical condition in hospital after they were caught in a fire at their workplace in a factory in Tuas on Saturday. One of them, a 27 year old man from Shandong suffered a 66% burn on his body, while another, a a 39 year old from Jiangsu suffered 90% burns. Both are currently in the ICU at Singapore General Hospital. Reports stated that both are in a very critical condition, and doctors and nurses at SGH are trying their best to save the men's lives. The fire at 29 Tuas Avenue 10 started at about 4:00 pm on Saturday, and was only put out at about 5:10pm. SCDF said that the fire involved plastics and used metals.

Another 9 illegal foreign workers were arrested at the Geylang Ramadan Bazaar yesterday in a joint operation by the NEA, MOM and the Police. The foreign workers were found to be working as food handlers. Just last month, more than 20 illegal foreign workers were arrested in the same bazaar in another operation by the authorities. For the past two years, MOM has launched a total of 76 such operations in bazaars all around Singapore, and have thus far arrested 257 illegal workers.
