A reader was appalled at the removal of Chinese language signs at NTUC Foodfare at Choa Chu Kang. The foodcourt has just opened after undergoing a facelift. "Many elderly patrons were perplexed on the first day of its recent reopening and had asked staff at the counters to translate the menus before they placed an order. This oversight is detrimental to Singapore’s efforts to foster a bilingual environment against a backdrop of today’s younger generation being increasingly unable to master their mother tongue. I hope that Foodfare could at least use Chinese on signboards in its locations where many of the residents are elderly, for their reference."

She defended herself insisting that she didn't mean to scold him and that she was feeling ill on that day. She had taken cough and flu medicine and those chemicals may have affected her and made her not think straight.

In the wake of customer complaints and photographs of cockroaches that went viral online, Marina Bay Sands said that the 1983 - A Taste of Nanyang foodcourt has been closed until further notice "for thorough cleaning". "Marina Bay Sands is aware of a pest incident that occurred at one of our tenanted F&B outlets, 1983 - A Taste of Nanyang, located at the South Promenade of The Shoppes, on Oct 6. We immediately took action and worked with the tenant to conduct checks and investigate the incident," Marina Bay Sands said in a statement on Thursday (Oct 9).
