POOR FOOD SAFETY STANDARDS AT NUS RAFFLES HALL, SERVES MOULDY VEG TO RESIDENTS

Food safety school has always been a problem in school. When I was still staying in raffles hall, we had two cases of mass food poisoning (at least 30 people had diarrhea including me) within the same semester. What did they do to compensate? Free ice-cream for those affected. I suspect that they served us food cooked/thawed from the previous day. Same dish for dinner again? What a coincidence... not. It's like they think it's no big deal.

China's customs have discovered dishonest merchants shipping decades old frozen rotting meat into the China. They hauled over 3 billion yuan (HK$3.8 billion) worth of illegal frozen chicken, beef and pork - some of which had packing dates going back to the 1970s.

AVA: MAGGI NOODLES ARE SAFE FOR CONSUMPTION

Instant noodles made by the Maggi brand in India are "safe", according to the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA). The AVA announced their findings on tests conducted on the India-made noodles today. Last week, India's food safety regulator announced that Maggi instant noodles were "unsafe and hazardous" for human consumption after they found excessive lead and MSG levels in the noodles.

100 TONNES OF TOXIC TOFU ENTERS THE CHINA FOOD MARKET

A criminal gang in eastern China has sold almost 100 metric tons (110.23 tons) of toxic tofu onto the local market, the latest in a string of scares that have thrown light on shady practices in the country’s food industry. The gang added industrial bleaching agent rongalite to make dried tofu sticks brighter and chewier, the Shanghai Daily reported on Monday, citing official media in Shandong province. Rongalite is banned in food production as it can lead to cancer.
