By defying his late father's wish to have his house demolished and twisting his words, Lee Hsien Loong is betraying the very important value of filial piety in Asian society. And ironically, filial piety is central to Confucianism which his late father tried to use as a cloak to legitimise his authoritarian rule. His act of defying LKY's wish hence will have the effect of diminishing respect many older folks have for him.
