After so many years of talk only no action, are they finally going to do take real action?

Mr Faisal Manap, do you know why the attire our men and women in the SAF and Police and Nursing is called a uniform? It's because it is meant to be UNIFORM, to show that regardless of religion, language or race, these personnel strive to be equal and uphold the pledge to defend all Singaporeans, not just their own race or religion. I hope Mr Faisal can truly be an MP for all Singaporeans instead of just the malay community. I hope you can see how your constant raising of such sensitive issues may cause others outside the malay community to feel uneasy. You are an elected MP, you have the right to raise any issue in Parliament, I hope you use your power with responsibility and help move Singapore forward, not just keep it exclusive for our malay community.

Now, everyone will be talking about this, everyone will have their own opinions, everyone will have their own camps, be it WP or the Government. At the end of the day, it is not who is right, or who is wrong in the exchange in Parliament yesterday. It is about the general public now waking up again to race and religion issues, thanks to the very exchange in Parliament. You make a mountain out of a molehill, now it becomes a monster that will be hard to keep down. Well done! So, the narrative is the same. All issues that government not comfortable with the public discussing, or the government have no ready answers with, keep them away from public. Government will tell you all what to do, and you do. No questions asked.

In Parliament yesterday, Water Resource Minister Masagos Zulkifli slammed WP MP Faisal Manap's habit of raising divisive issues within the Malay Muslim community in Parliament. Masagos claims that in doing so, Mr Faisal Manap was raising the temperatures and making the complex issues much harder to solve due to his high profile championing of such issues. Masagos criticized the WP MP after Manap called for Muslim nurses and uniformed officers to be allowed to wear the headscarf or tudung to the secular workplace. He asked when Singapore would do so when other nations like Australia and Britain had already done so.

At the invitation of the Block 511 Bedok North Street 3 Market Association, MP Faisal and MP Low Thia Khiang attended their annual seventh moon dinner together with stallholders, business owners, residents and suppliers of the local businesses in the area. Both of them made it a point to go to each of the 70 tables to thank the attendees and send them their best wishes

I as a part of the Indian Muslim community of Macpherson, would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to MP Faisal Manap and his candidate Mr Bernard Chen for specially coming down from Kaki Bt just to look into a neglected case which was given false pretense only 4 days after the family's plight was first attended to by Mr Chen! I hope you can and will highlight the good work and efforts of the losing Opposition candidates as the ignorant PAP incumbents often claims that the Opposition merely 'shows up' during elections and disappears soon after.

As part of his work as Member of Parliament, Mr Faisal writes appeal letters to the respective ministries on behalf of his constituents and in due course, he will receive cc-ed copies of the reply letters to the residents. A rather interesting letter pop by the mailbox. MP Faisal, the member for Kaki Bukit wrote three letters for three different constituents regarding a spalling concrete issue that they were facing in their units. The reply was interesting and troubling to say the least, in particular the second paragraph.

I am a strong believer of an inclusive and open SAF that is fair and just to all Singaporeans regardless of race, language and religion. As such, in the COS debate last year, I urge the Minister to seriously consider the possibility of ensuring that all Navy vessels are equipped with Halal-certified kitchen so that the Malay-Muslim will able to serve freely in the Navy vessels without any constraints. I would like to see the practical issues such as the installation of halal kitchen onboard a navy vessel can be addressed and resolved promptly so as not to further deprive and shattered the dreams of eligible Malay-Muslim Singaporeans from serving our nation in the navy onboard a navy vessel.

There was a sharp exchange on Monday (Aug 4) between Minister of State (National Development) Maliki Osman and Workers’ Party Member of Parliament Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap, which even saw Parliament Speaker Halimah Yacob stepping in to remind MPs of the importance of providing details when they cite incidents involving government agencies and public servants.
