Recently, I'm starting to wonder if I'm slowly slipping out of the "middle class" bracket and into the "low income" bracket. My wife and I are both working and we earn average incomes, combined about 10K a month. Our children are in school and expenses are getting super high.

LEE KUAN YEW: A FRUGAL MAN OR A MAN WITH EXPENSIVE TASTE?

Despite Lee Kuan Yew earning millions of dollars throughout his political career, it seemed that he led a spartan and frugal lifestyle. Lee Kuan Yew did not eat at hawker centers, neither did he dine at coffee shops. What we do know is his love for Japanese cuisine, an expensive dining experience.

NATIONAL STADIUM MATCH TICKETS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE FOR MOST S’POREANS

Even the Bundesliga charges lower for their games. You can watch Bayern Munchen and Borussia Dortmund at around 5 Euros (standing). For the equivalent of S$18, you can be assured of a seat, and that's top class football. What's the SSC and FAS trying to prove? Unless the operator is sacked and replaced by a local who understands the passion and means of ordinary Singaporeans, then the National Stadium will continue to be a rip-off and a soulless stadium for the rich, for concerts and for foreign teams to come play for a fee. It cannot be considered a National Stadium for Singaporeans.

In 1965, a minister was paid a monthly salary of $2,500. 45 years later, a minister’s monthly income (Grade MR4) had risen by 5,200% to $131,991 ($1,583,900 divide by 12 months).
