It was suggested that the collapse happened because there could have been an error in the design, or the structures were not constructed to design specifications. If despite stringent checks and counter checks done to ensure this does not occur, but yet it still did, then questions would have to be asked of the structural engineers who did the checks. Another reason could have been ground movement, but again, this would have been checked before works are carried out.

Wonder out of this number, how many percentage would be reserved for the locals. Have the feeling that the number of foreigners hired as engineers out of these 15,000 by 2030 will be so much more than the number of locals. 13 years is not that long a time.

This is from an employee of a Singaporean engineering firm. LHL is shameless in asking why Singaporeans don't want to go into engineering. First, no jobs cause all goes to 3rd world with their $50 degrees. Next Singaporean employers themselves don't give a toss to build a world class engineering firm. They just want to tender low and hire from 3rd world countries.

What caused power across the entire North-South and East-West lines to trip and shut down Singapore's most heavily used MRT corridor? The answer can come only from engineers studying the problem and working out the solutions.
