IRAS has issued a warning to the public that an email on tax refunds supposedly sent by IRAS is a scam. It may even contain a computer virus. The email asks recipients to download an attachment or click on a link to view their tax refunds.

More than 40 people have been cheated by a PayPal scam which involves fake buyers sending fake emails to pretend that they have paid for the items. The emails reportedly looked legitimate as it seemed to have come from PayPal and other reputable banks. In some cases, they cheated people of fake "admin fees" to activate their PayPal accounts in order for them to receive payment. Victims of the scam did not receive a single cent. The SPF is warning everyone to always seek official verification by logging in to their PayPal accounts first, rather than opening attachments in emails or freely giving out their credit card details.

A netizen received an email from a "Crown Prince", who claims to be a Prince John Maduakolam from the African kingdom of Eziama. According to the email, the prince's family has run into some difficulty and wants the netizen to help him act as a trustee for a sum of $8.6 million US dollars.

An employee with the Singapore Police Force has found herself the unwitting star of a new email saga in her workplace, all because she accidentally clicked the "Reply All" button in her response to a colleague's email.
