I REPORTED BREACH OF ELECTION ADVERTISING TO ELECTIONS DEPT DURING BY-E BUT THEY NEVER DO ANYTHING!

Seeing that the ELD only seems to make reports against online media and opposition supporters, yesterday I made a police report about possible breaches of election advertising rules by the PAP. You can see pictures of the police report as well as all accompanying evidence below. I reported two instances of potential breaches, one during the Bukit Batok by-election and one during the General Election last year. You might ask why I am reporting these breaches only now, several months after the General Election. Well, I did report them, to ELD. But they didn't do anything. It was only when I saw the news report on Friday that ELD had made police reports regarding breaches of election advertising rules that I realised I should have contacted the police instead of ELD! It seems that enforcement lies with the police, not ELD.

COMPLAINT SENT TO ELECTIONS DEPARTMENT ON PRO PAP FB PAGE FOR POST MADE ON POLLING DAY

It appears that a complain against the pro PAP Facebook page, Fabrications About The PAP, has been lodged with the Elections Department (ELD). It was reported that Fabrications About The PAP had shared a photo which showed DPM Tharman taking the stage during the rally. The caption was "Vote Murali because he's working for you. Not because you are part of a political journey." The post was made on Polling Day. According to ELD, posting election advertising on Cooling-Off Day and Polling Day is prohibited, as this campaign silence period is meant to give voters time to reflect rationally on issues raised before going to the polls.

ELECTION DEPARTMENT SETS UP MORE RULES FOR POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS

1ST SEP FOR NOMINATIONS, 11TH SEPTEMBER WILL BE POLLING DAY

The office of President Tony Tan Keng Yam has released the Writ of Elections at 4PM today, in which he declared that nominations for political candidates would be held on 1st September. In the same hour, the Elections Department of Singapore also released its Press Release on General Elections 2015, which confirmed that polling day would be held on 11th September.

REVISED REGISTERS OF ELECTORS NOW OPEN FOR PUBLIC

According to the Elections Department today, the revised registers of electors are certified and will now be available for public inspection. There are 2,460,484 electors in the registers, and Singapore citizens may check their particulars in the registers via the Elections Department website. They may also do so at community centers or clubs, at Singapore overseas missions that serve as overseas registration centres, and at the Elections Department with their NRIC or passport.

[YOUR LETTERS] ELECTIONS DEPARTMENT IS HIRING TEMP STAFF TO TRAIN ELECTION AGENTS – ELECTIONS IN 2015?

According to the ad, Elections Department is looking for "Training Support Executive" and "Training Facilitator", both are temporary position for 1-year with application dateline in mid-May 2014. Let's assume that the trainers were hired by August 2014, this means their tenure will end by August 2015. However, the ads stated that candidates are required "to be prepared to work extended hours under pressure during elections period".
