ANOTHER DELAY ON THE MRT EAST WEST LINE, TRACK FAULT BLAMED THIS TIME

SMRT reported that there is a delay in the train services between City Hall to Dover Station on the East West Line. At 8.32am, it tweeted that service would be delayed by 25 minutes. As of 9.14am, SMRT tweeted that the delay was still 25 minutes. This was revised to 20 minutes at 9.56am. This delay is blamed on a track circuit fault at Buona Vista station, which is an interchange for the East-West Line and the Circle Line. Train services at all stations are still available, but SMRT advised to add more minutes to the travelling time. SMRT are currently working to recover the service at normal levels.

MRT STATIONS ALONG EAST-WEST LINE TO CLOSE EARLY FROM NOVEMBER

On Friday, SMRT announced that MRT stations between Bugis and Tanah Merah along the East-West Line will close 30 minutes early from 15 November 2015 till the end of the year. This is to give engineering staff more time to conduct sleeper replacement works. This early closure is expected to yield a 25% increase in sleeper replacement every night.

SMRT TAKES FIRST DELIVERY OF 45 NEW CHINA-MADE TRAINS

Rail operator SMRT has taken delivery of the first of 45 new trains for the heavily used North-South and East-West lines. These trains will be first to carry SMRT's new orange, red and black livery. The trains were built in China through a joint venture between Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries and China's CSR Qingdao Sifang.
