SDP Stands In Solidarity With New Naratif’s Thum Ping Tjin

The latest to show their support for PJ Thum and New Naratif was the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP). On the evening of 22 Sep 2020, SDP made a press release to decry the harassment of activists and independent journalists in Singapore. The SDP explained that PJ Thum was only exercising his rights as a citizen of Singapore to comment on the local political situation. SDP said the ELD was acting in a partisan manner, and hit back at the ELD by suggesting the department should look into the "numerous incidents regarding the PAP" where elections rules may have been breached.

Chee Soon Juan Offers Listening Ear To Vulnerable Youths

Dr Chee Soon Juan extended a listening ear to vulnerable youths after learning they are committing suicide at an alarming rate. According to a report by the state media, suicides in Singapore increase by 10% as compared to the incidents last year. Statistics given by the Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) said 94 people aged between 10 and 29 had killed themselves in 2019. A concerned citizen informed All Singapore Stuff that he had filed a police report against Bukit Batok PAP candidate Murali Pillai. According to the report, the concerned Singaporean took issue with Murali Pillai for his video about the "scurrilous attack" on his family and son. This person also claimed he forwarded the police report to the POFMA office for them to follow up.

Was at Bukit Batok Bus Interchange waiting for the bus when I saw Murali and Tharman walking through with their army of entourage, photographers and a camera crew, canvassing votes. Murali approached me. When I said that I will be supporting Dr Chee, a PAP dog said "Why support an unemployed guy to be an MP? He is worthless." I said "I'm also unemployed. Does that mean I'm worthless also?" Murali and the PAP dog just left with an awkward silence.

President Tony Tan has issued the writ of election for the Bukit Batok by-election to be held on 7 May 2016. Nomination day will be on 27 April 2016 at Keming Primary School.
