IS THE PAP CALLING ALL UNEMPLOYED S'POREANS WORTHLESS BECAUSE DR CHEE IS 'WORTHLESS'?

Was at Bukit Batok Bus Interchange waiting for the bus when I saw Murali and Tharman walking through with their army of entourage, photographers and a camera crew, canvassing votes. Murali approached me. When I said that I will be supporting Dr Chee, a PAP dog said "Why support an unemployed guy to be an MP? He is worthless." I said "I'm also unemployed. Does that mean I'm worthless also?" Murali and the PAP dog just left with an awkward silence.

FOREIGNERS ARE NOW AFRAID OF SINGAPORE'S OPPOSITION!

I could not help noticing a few fallacies is Dr. Juan's argument. He is complaining that cost of living is very high, and yet wages are being suppressed by employing foreign workers - however, if (much) higher wages were to be paid for everything, wouldn't the costs go up accordingly. If instead of bangladeshi workers working 5am-10pm for dirt cheap, Singaporean workers are employed in construction sites for 5-8 times those wages, won't the already expensive HDB housings cost 3-4 times more than they currently do? While articulated nicely, thus hiding these sort of fallacies, and sugar coating fear mongering, ultimately, I think (and yes, I may be wrong, after all I am a FT, I don't understand the Singaporean view point that well), that the overall arguments are wrong, and touches on the fears of Singaporeans, but the proposed "solutions" will spell an almost immediate doom for Singaporean economy and its people.

DR CHEE: LEE HSIEN LOONG SHOULD SHOW HIS LEADERSHIP IN AMOS YEE SAGA

Amos' remarks must have hurt PM Lee Hsien Loong deeply. After all, Lee Kuan Yew was the PM's father and no one enjoys having their loved ones criticised, especially at a time when one is still grieving and in the manner in which it was done. Amos' video was offensive and ill-advised. But this is where we need leadership to come through. Mr Lee is not an ordinary citizen. He is the leader of the country. Difficult as it may be, he must separate his personal feelings from his public ones.
