S'poreans may not be able to downgrade their flats for retirement after all

Let’s consider a young Singaporean looking to buy their first home. It is common advice to buy a HDB as your first home as it is significantly “subsidized” by the government as compared to private housing and there are grants that apply only first timers.

MERCER: CPF RETIREMENT SCHEME DOWNGRADED FROM B TO C+ SCORE

In the latest Melbourne Mercer Global Pension Index which ranks 25 countries on the adequacy and integrity of their retirement schemes, Singapore's CPF was downgraded to a C+ grade from last year's B grade. The "C+" grade is for a pension system that has "some good features, but also has major risks and/or shortcomings that should be addressed".
