FOREIGN BEGGARS AND TISSUE SELLERS ARE VERY AGGRESSIVE, FORCING PEOPLE TO GIVE THEM MONEY

Sharing this so that your people can avoid the beggars during this festive period. I went shopping at Bugis on Saturday, saw a lao auntie trying to sell pen. I tried to walk pass her so that I can avoid but suddenly she grabbed my arms. Begging me to help her, buy her pen as she is hungry and no money for lunch. No choice but to give her $2. She took the money without giving me a pen. Sunday went orchard. Same thing happened but this time is tissue aunt. She grabbed my hand and beg me to buy. GF opened her purse and took out $10 as she got no change. I told her I have $2. Lao auntie quickly grabbed the $10 and walked away without giving us the tissue.

Faith when we do not have enough money to eat or even to take the bus back home. My parents will always tell me why do I want to make myself so difficult in giving to the building fund and have not enough or no money even for basic living expenses. I told her as a student, I am more than blessed and I am giving for the future, for our building. The famous saying goes “if we build God a house, he will build ours…” and also “the future is ours…”

LEE HSIEN LOONG: HUNDREDS OF INNOCENT KILLED IN GAZA, DONATE GENEROUSLY TO MUIS GAZA HUMANITARIAN FUND

In the last week, the armed conflict in Gaza has hotted up. Hundreds of people have been killed, mostly civilians, including many children and infants. The loss of innocent lives is tragic and painful. The Middle East is far away, but still we empathise with the pain and suffering of the Palestinian people, because of our common humanity. Alas there is no easy solution. The Israel-Palestinian problem goes back almost a century. The distrust and enmity are mutual, and deep. Yet there is no future in this endless cycle of violence and retribution.
