We have been taught to always respect other religions yet it is very upsetting to know not everyone is practising this. It is very common for Singapore households to have a FDW to help out in their homes. Most of these FDWs come from Indonesia, Phillipines, Myanmar & India. Employers have always been told to treat their FDW well but during this holy month of Ramadan it is very surprising to see employers not being very open to their muslim FDWs keeping a fast.

S’POREAN MAN GIVES LIFE SAVINGS TO UNLUCKY INDON MAID

Nancy started to work for my family about 9 years ago (2007). Initially she looked after my mother-in-law who had dementia and was later bedridden and had to be fed through a tube through the nose. MAID STOLE $160K FROM EMPLOYER , JAILED 18 MONTHS

35 year-old Muinah, a domestic worker from Indonesia, was sentenced to 18 months jail today after she was found guilty of stealing cash and property amounting to more than $160,000 from her employer. A district court heard that Muinah had been working for 33 year-old Ms Esther Minah Mohamed Shah at her home in Bishan since May 2013.

New clubhouse for maids opens near Tanjong Pagar

Domestic workers now have a new clubhouse where they can spend their days off from work. A 2,800 sqf space at 10 Raeburn Park, near the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, features karaoke facilities, a library and a computer lab. It was opened on Sunday afternoon by non-profit organisation, the Foreign Domestic Worker Association for Social Support and Training (Fast).
