AUSTRALIAN SLAMS ZULFIKAR SHARIFF FOR BETRAYING DEMOCRACY, CALLS HIM A HYPOCRITE

As an acquaintance of Zulfikar Mohamad Shariff in La Trobe University, I was not surprised to learn of his arrest. I found it especially amusing that he doesn't realise the irony of his calls for the setting up of an Islamic Khilafah. He advocates for the rejection of constitutional democracy but yet enjoys a peaceful, fulfilling life in democratic countries like Australia and Singapore. Zul's hypocrisy is even more pronounced when you realise that as a full time student here in Australia, he doesn't earn a full salary and gets only a modest stipend. Due to this lack of income, his family members are on welfare provided generously by us, the Australian people.

ROY NGERNG: I FELT RAPED BY THE POLICE, AM I AN UNFILIAL USELESS SON?

When I left the police station, I did not know what to feel. I was reminded of what a PAP MP shared on his Facebook - democracy is like gang rape in action. I felt raped. I felt raped when the police surrounded me to raid my home. I felt raped when they did not let me speak to my friends. I felt raped when the police searched all my devices and accounts in front of me. I felt like I was stripped and searched. I lost my dignity, even as I tried hard to maintain it.

GAY S’POREAN: I HATE MY LIFE IN S’PORE, DR CHEE IS MY ONLY HOPE, PAP HAS NO BALLS

I am a 35 year old man living in Singapore. I am a gay man living in this country. I may love my country but my country does not love me back. Whenever I go out shopping for groceries at the wet market or supermarket with my partner, we attract stares from others like we are animals on exhibit. When I hold my husband's hands in public, people give us the death stare like we are murderers of their family members. I have given up on the PAP to give me equality and basic respect in my own country. Dr Chee is the only politician in Singapore who can change all these injustice.

EX-S’POREAN: S’PORE NEEDS POLITICAL OVERHAUL TO BECOME GREAT NATION LIKE THE USA

I am a Singaporean who successfully immigrated to the States (Maryland) a year ago but still keep in touch with developments in Singapore through alternate social media sites like yours as Straits Time's "Stomp" blocks overseas access. Ensuring Singapore's continued survival is not merely increasing NCMPs or tweaking the presidential system, it's about the freedom to information and a truly informed citizenry can we become a great nation like America!

NO SEPARATION OF POWERS, S’PORE IS NOT A HEALTHY DEMOCRACY

There is no separation of powers in Singapore at all. The Executive has complete & absolute authority over. And even with such lack of separation of powers, the PAP govt has further entrenched its dominance through co-opting all grassroots organizations. This is not the framework for the creation of a healthy and sustainable democracy.

AMERICAN FT: AMOS YEE YOU ARE CLUELESS ABOUT THE TRUE CLUSTER FUCK OF DEMOCRACY

This is for ‪#‎AmosYee‬: You are a clueless, uneducated about the world child. First you are lucky to even have an opinion and be able to share it. If you want to see a country that has deteriorated, has no self pride, no concern for it's citizens, with citizens that have no concern for each other I sincerely invite you to come and stay for 30 days at my home in the USA and experience a true cluster fuck of democracy.

PLEASE RESPECT THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS, REGARDLESS OF WHO WINS

I was eating lunch and I was looking through some GE2011 articles and the Potong Pasir (PP) by-election petition (I remembered that and I was really disgusted with the petition back then) and I was equally disgusted with the people behind the petition, not because they support Chiam See Tong or anything. In GE 2011, Lina Chiam lost PP to Sitoh by a very minute margin. Iirc it was less than 400 votes. It was very close but both sides (Lina's side) agreed with the results after hours of delibration. IIRC, the results was only released at 5am?

CATHERINE LIM: AN OPEN LETTER TO LEE HSIEN LOONG

We are in the midst of a crisis where the people no longer trust their government, and the government no longer cares about regaining their trust. There are two clear signs that the present situation has reached crisis proportions, that it is not just an affective divide, not just an emotional estrangement between your PAP leadership and the people.
