According to records, this is the highest price ever netted to sellers of a DBSS flat. And this was not even the only million dollar sale that took place at the same City View DBSS. Another five room flat was sold at S$1.028 million. But these are just the lucky few whose flats can fetch million dollar prices. Most other Sinkies who owns HDB flats will see their resale value of the flats plummet, as the flats reach their 99 year lease. So maybe, in a way to mitigate the loss for Sinkies who do not sit on multi million dollar properties, such news of houses fetching million dollar prices are wheeled out.

An angry resident, who recently bought a 4-room condominium at the much touted Pasir Ris One Design Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS) estate, was shocked when she first received the keys to her apartment. Despite all the media hype surrounding the Pasir Ris One project, she was disappointed to find that the rooms in her 4-room apartment were smaller than "shoeboxes".

AUTHORITIES INSIST NARROW 1.17M DBSS CORRIDOR MEETS ALL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

BCA said that before issuing the Temporary Occupancy Permit (TOP) for Pasir Ris One, inspections had been conducted and the corridors were found to be generally 1.2 m wide. With regard to the 1.17 m width at some places of Pasir Ris One’s corridors, BCA felt that the 3 cm difference may be due to “error during construction phase”. BCA said that this difference does not impact the accessibility of persons on wheelchairs.

Residents who face quality issues may report them to the Building Service Centre managed by the developer during the 1-year warranty period. If the developer fails to address them, the buyers will have legal recourse against the developer as provided under the Sales and Purchase Agreement, Mr Lee said. Responding to questions from opposition leader Low Thia Khiang on HDB’s role in the DBSS projects, Mr Lee said the HDB provides the broad parameters such as the mix of flat sizes and the range of facilities, within which the private developers are given the flexibility to build and sell flats. HDB also sets the buyer eligibility rules for DBSS flats.

PRC DEVELOPER OWNED BY PRC COUPLE BEHIND POORLY BUILT PASIR RIS ONE DBSS!

According to online media, the Pasir Ris One Design Build and Sell Scheme project was developed by PRC company SingHaiyi Group, which subcontracted the job to construction firm Kay Lim Holdings. The project comprises 447 units put on sale since April 2012 for between $390K and $770K. Little wonder why residents are up in arms over the poor quality finishings of their flats.

SPOILT S'POREANS STOP COMPLAINING OVER EVERY SINGLE DBSS DEFECTS

I think Singaporeans today are just damn spoilt. In my grandparents’ time, people are just happy to have a 3-room HDB flat with running water and proper sewage disposal. Look at Singaporeans now. With just a bit of defects, must call MP, must write to social media, take videos and put on YouTube, cow-peh-cow-bu. Please la, Govt doesn’t owe you a living!

CENTRALE 8 DBSS FLATS OF POOR QUALITY, RESIDENTS DEMAND EXTRA YEAR OF WARRANTY

After residents moved into their new DBSS flats in Centrale 8 at Tampines in June last year, they were upset to discover the poor quality of their premium flats. Some of them have even gone online to announce their unhappiness about the defects in their flats. Meanwhile, a group has also spoken the media and say that they hope the developer, Sim Lian Group, can extend the one-year period warranty, which obligates the developer to rectify any defects in the units. Some also want cash compensation.

SDP: AUTHORITIES MUST ENSURE TRIVELIS RESIDENTS ARE GIVEN FAIR COMPENSATION

The on-going problems that residents at the Trivelis are experiencing with their new Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS) flats, a scheme of the HDB, must be addressed by the proper authorities. It seems that the host of defects of the flats are serious and fall far short of the quality promised by the developer, EL Development (ELD), which has resulted in many of the owners having to spend money to rectify the faults. The SDP will continue to monitor the situation.
