24 year-old Ms Elsie Lie Lek Chee was about to get married to her 37 year-old security guard husband, Mr Gabriel Lee Haw Ling in 2012. A Belgian expatriate who suffocated his five-year-old son at his Leedon Heights apartment amid a bitter custody battle with his estranged French wife was on Monday (Aug 22) jailed five years. First diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2006, Loh, a single mother, had been living with her mother, believed to be 65, and son in a West Coast Road flat. Gabriel suffered from a host of medical conditions related to his liver that left him jaundiced and with brittle bones. She was sentenced to the maximum of 10 years in jail for culpable homicide.
