A netizen shared his idea on how to encourage Singaporean drivers to be more courteous.

So I took bus number 806 from Yishun Interchange at about 10.54pm last night (27.06.17). This driver is one of the best drivers i've experienced in my entire 21 years of life so far. As we boarded the bus, this driver made everyone smile but welcoming everyone so warmly. He greeted everyone as we boarded. As we approached the first stop, and as soon as doors open and people alighted, he wished them a goodnight. Even though he was right at the front and people were alighting from the other door at the back, he still shouted in a very sincere way wishes them a good night.

I got up bus 13 from Sims Ave at about 7.40pm heading to Siglap Rd. Bus captain Ihsan (SBS 8256C) greeted everyone getting on "Good evening". Not only that, he physically turned around said "Bye, thank you" to all that was getting down, happily n enthusiastically. Now, I'd seen nice n polite bus captains all the time but Ihsan repeated all this at every single stop until some passengers who'd been on his bus for at least a few stops felt they had to say "thank you" him in return.

This is Ihsan Bin Tomino. He has been an SBS Transit bus driver for the past 3.5 years and THE BEST I have met. From the time I boarded the bus to the time I alighted, he greeted every passenger with smiley enthusiasm. I continued to watch some more. This guy is for real. He is definitely genuine about greeting his passengers when they enter his bus, reminds them to be careful and makes sure they are seated before driving off. He makes it a point to say 'Thank you' to everyone leaving the bus too. Most importantly, he is a darn good driver, smooth and careful when navigating bumps on the road and other road users. The more I watched, the broader my smile became.

I hope you will give PRC people a chance and not stereotype all of them as uncouth, abusive, rude people. They are really not. Out of all the PRC people I have met in my life, most of them are civil and courteous people who treat others with respect. Target the act, not the individual, not the nationality, race or religion.
