IMAM CHARGED WITH PROMOTING ENMITY OVER REMARKS ON JEWS, CHRISTIANS

Imam Nalla Mohamed Abdul Jameel has pleaded guilty to promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion or race. This is with regards to remarks the imam had made at Friday prayers at a mosque in January and February, where he recited an old Arabic text originating from his village in India that read: "God help us against Jews and Christians", which is not an extract from the Quran.

AMOS YEE IS MORE MATURE THAN MOST PEOPLE THINK

Reading the article where TOC interviews his bailor Mr. Vincent Law has really given me an insight on who Amos Yee is as a person. When Amos was taken back into remand, I had assumed 2 things. Either Vincent Law does not have the $30,000 to front or Vincent Law offered $30,000 to the front and Amos Yee declined his proposal.

LAWYER: BLOGGING IS LIKE DRINKING WATER TO AMOS

Defence lawyers Alfred Dodwell and Ervin Tan had sought a reduction of Amos' S$30,000 bail amount and for him to be allowed to post content online before his trial is completed. The latter condition was too broad and disproportionate, they argued. Amos has been on social media since he was eight and social media engagement is akin to drinking water for the teenager, they said. But DPP Hay argued that Amos had already breached his bail conditions by making two blog postings while he was out on bail. The prosecution was prepared to agree to a lower bail amount and not to have him report to a police station daily if Amos agreed to go for counselling.

AMOS YEE BAILED OUT BY YOUTH COUNSELOR VINCENT LAW

16 year-old YouTuber Amos Yee was back at the State Courts on yesterday for a bail review. He had been remanded at Changi Prison since last Friday, after no bail was posted for him following a pre-trial conference that day. Yee appeared in court handcuffed and dressed in a purple jumpsuit just after 4pm, and looked calm. Three lawyers, Alfred Dodwell, Chong Jia Hao from Dodwell & Co LLC, and Ervin Tan from Michael Hwang Chambers LLC told the court they would be acting for Yee pro bono.Yee's parents were at the State Courts on Tuesday, as well as a few other members of the public who said they were there to show moral support for the teen. Activist Jolovan Wham and was spotted at the Court as well.

EX-RGS STUDENT SUES SCHOOL FOR NOT PROTECTING HER FROM BULLYING

18 year-old Ms Cheryl Tan is suing her former school, Raffles Girls School, because she felt the school authorities did not protect her from school bullies, which she says led to her withdrawal from the school and her decision to study overseas. She wants the school to pay for her pain and suffering and also the $220,000 it cost to continue her studies at the prestigious Wells Cathedral School in England. She is currently completing her A levels there.
