60 year-old Ms Khoo Siew Hong died of a severe allergic reaction to shellfish after she ate some prawns prepared by her helpers despite knowing she was allergic to them.

State Coroner Marvin Bay ruled that that a Filipino maid's tragic death was not the result of a suicide, but a playful prank gone wrong. the 39 year old maid, Jovylyn La Torre Rue, who is a mother of five, accidentally killed herself by hanging with a skipping rope. She was found dead in her bedroom by her employer on 11 December last year, just 10 days before she was due back to her home town to attend the wedding of her daughter. She had been looking forward to her return home. According to the coroner, there was evidence submitted by tragic maid's friend, which showed she had pretended to kill herself using skipping ropes two years previously to scare her boyfriend into tears. Apparently, the last time she did it led directly to her actual death.

Around 2 weeks before 18 year-old Denyse Tan fell 7 stories to her death at the foot of her HDB block, her father recalled Denyse telling him that she could see a monster and hear children crying her room. When her father noticed that Denyse also appeared groggy, he asked her if she was on drugs. When she replied no, he believed her.
