SERIAL TAXI CHEAT OWED $871.65 TO 15 TAXI DRIVERS, ORDERED TO PAY THEM COMPENSATION

A serial taxi cheat was fined $8,000 and ordered to pay compensation of $871.65 to 15 taxi drivers, after she pleaded guilty to 10 counts of fare evasions. The woman faces 40 days in jail for the fine and 10 days in jail for the compensation order if she is unable to pay both amounts. Tan Mei Shan, 29, carried out her taxi cheating spree from January 2014 to October 2016. By the time she was done, she had cheated 15 tax drivers of fares from $25.10 to $105.60. She would board a taxi and request to make multiple stops during the trip to collect items or buy food. She would leave her phone number to the drivers, often saying she was returning to the vehicles, but became uncontactable after a while. In some cases, she even said she would contact the drivers at a later date to pay her fare, but never did. Tan pleaded in court that she had depression and asked for leniency, and also stated that she had a few dollars with her and asked to pay the fine in installments.

I booked a night stay of Away room at W Singapore for my husband birthday celebration. Upon checked in at 3.30pm, I could already hear the guests on my right blasting loud music and making a lot of noise. COMFORT TAXI OFFERED MEASLY $10,000 COMPENSATION AFTER KILLING MY FATHER IN RECKLESS ROAD ACCIDENT

I'm still in pain and grieving while telling you my grievance but I feel it's a necessity to let everyone know what kind of values our society is under especially towards the downtrodden and poor who are viewed with disdain in our money minded society. My late father who just passed away on Monday at CGH, had sustained serious internal injuries after a traffic accident while crossing the road at Eunos Crescent on Sunday. To rub salt in my wounds after the cremation of my late father yesterday, Comfort DelGro through ULA offered to pay me 10,000 in exchange for a rapid closure to this small case.

GIRLFRIEND BROKE UP WITH ME & INVOICED ME $17,885 FOR WASTING HER TIME

I received a big surprise today in my letter box. It was a incredible letter from my ex-girlfriend who broke up with me a few weeks ago. I thought we were both nursing our hearts and needed time to cool off. Little did I know she was plotting against me and wanted to demand compensation from me. In her letter, she listed down ten reasons for wanting to break up with, most of it was blamed on my character flaws and how I did not live up to her expectations. We were together for just six months and she wants me to pay her for the time she lost.

FINES AGAINST SMRT ARE USELESS, GIVE S’POREANS FREE TRAVEL INSTEAD

Any fine paid by SMRT goes effectively from one Government pocket to another, or as one person put it, from the pants pocket to the shirt pocket, so does not hurt the people ultimately responsible for the breakdown. A far better way of compensating the much put-upon commuter is by forcing SMRT to allow free public transport for a number of days. As Singaporeans have paid for their network through higher taxes and more austerity, the free travel should only be extended to those holding pink ICs and their immediate family.

MINISTER HENG SWEE KEAT MUST RESIGN & GIVE $1 MILLION COMPENSATION FOR EACH DEATH

I would like someone to help me propose that the MOE Minister, the school principal and those teachers or administrators who coined the idea of the trip be removed from their positions. Furthermore, I am proposing the MOE compensate the dead child’s parents a sum of no less than 1 million dollars because this child would easily earn at least a million dollars in her life time and part of it would go out to support her aging parents.

SDP: AUTHORITIES MUST ENSURE TRIVELIS RESIDENTS ARE GIVEN FAIR COMPENSATION

The on-going problems that residents at the Trivelis are experiencing with their new Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS) flats, a scheme of the HDB, must be addressed by the proper authorities. It seems that the host of defects of the flats are serious and fall far short of the quality promised by the developer, EL Development (ELD), which has resulted in many of the owners having to spend money to rectify the faults. The SDP will continue to monitor the situation.
