MOM TAKES ACTION AGAINST COMPANIES THAT PRACTICE LOCALS REJECTION

In Parliament today, the Ministry of Manpower reported that they took action against 50 companies for not giving Singaporeans a fair chance when hiring. The 50 companies were taken to task by MOM, which included 500 employment passes applied by the companies to be rejected. Good that the government are finally taking steps to prevent Singaporean workers being marginalized in their own country. We are Singapore, and Singaporeans should take care of Singaporeans. However, am very sure that they may be more than 50 companies doing this. The MOM would just have to carry on flushing out these errant companies, make sure they give Singaporeans a fair chance of getting jobs in their own country.

Company bosses have are complaining about the lack of foreign manpower in Singapore, They say they have trouble filling vacancies in their companies and cannot take on new projects. Economists warn that slowing growth in the local workforce may be due to the tightening of the government's foreign workforce policy. Although some companies have restructured and become less reliant on manpower, others did not make the cut and have moved elsewhere to countries like Malaysia and China where cheap labor is more easily available.

I came across this advertisement by a website that claims it can hire foreigners from China, India etc at $0 cost to the company. I hope you can share this photo because this kind of thing that is spoiling the job market for Singaporeans. Singapore Companies Owe The Third Highest Level of Debts in Asia

Singapore companies are now the third most indebted in Asia, behind China and India, as the overall economy slows, according to GMT Research Ltd. The level of indebtedness has reached a "danger threshold," Gillem Tulloch told Bloomberg Businessweek. According to the Hong Kong-based research group, growth is likely to slow down in Singapore as it cannot be sustained without additional stimulus or irresponsible bank lending.
