CYBER DEFENDERS TO BE AN ELITE NS VOCATION ON PAR WITH COMMANDOS AND NAVAL DIVERS

The authorities will place a stringent selection process in order for National Servicemen to be able to join the cyber security team. Minister Ong said that this vocation is very socialized and targeted, as well as very demanding much like how commandos and naval divers are selected. Many of ST’s parachute-packing staff themselves are former Riggers from the Commando Formation, and all of ST’s parachute-packing staff are trained and competent in their roles. ST has been packing parachutes for us since 2010, and there have been zero parachute reliability issues.

We were a band of brothers.

MINISTER MALIKI OSMAN: SAF HAS MALAY FIGHTER PILOTS, COMMANDOS & NAVAL COMBAT PERSONNEL

The issue of Malays not being deployed in certain Singapore Armed Forces units and under-represented among the SAF's top ranks has been an issue in the community. Yesterday, Dr Maliki - the first Malay political office-holder in the Defence Ministry - said the Malay community continues to make positive contributions to Singapore, including in the area of defence and security. "I have met many Malay servicemen in every service and formation in the SAF, including as fighter pilots, commandos, and naval combat systems operators," he said.
