Commentary: Civil Servants, Unelected Can Carry This?

Political appointees have no financial role, safe to say merely ‘approving’ the use of the $5 billion. If the PM is talking about decision making, it is the civil servants who are making the decision behind the scene, collating, presenting, advising where the draw down and transfer of money comes from. So is the prime minister trying to draw wool over people’s eyes when he said, ‘It is a big decision, S$5 billion of supplementary budget.

WHY SOME CIVIL SERVANTS GET MORE BONUSES THAN OTHERS WITH SAME PERFORMANCE GRADES?

In Civil Service, we have different ministries and Stat. Boards. Our bonuses for mid-year and end-year are pegged to the economy and we get the same rate. However, I am puzzled as to why our Performance Bonus are of a different rate. A 'C' grade in MINDEF can get an officer 3 to 3.5 months for bonuses, whereas in MOE it is only worth 1.5 to 2 months. I understand that job scope if different, but it is already differentiate via the salary system.

TEACHER: I WORKED MY *SS OFF FOR ONLY 2MONTHS PERFORMANCE BONUS?!

For those of you who are considering joining the civil service as a teacher, think again and don't bother joining this bloated junk system. For the majority of last year, I worked my *ss off, putting in hours to counsel students, organising CCA activities, covering my head of department during his absence. Although I admit I did this out of dedication to my students, but at the very least I expect to be well compensated for the loss of my time with family and the depreciation in my health.

OBNOXIOUS CIVIL SERVANT PARKS BMW AT MOTORCYCLE LOT AND THREATENS BIKER

So this just happened at the carpark opposite Ghim Moh market, 20 Ghim Moh Road. I walked back to my bike and saw a BMW parked next to my ride. At this point, the driver (a skinny bespectacled Chinese man in his late fifties?) alighted. He saw me looking at the markings on the ground, and asked if there’s a problem. If he weren’t so obnoxiously rude, I might have let it go. He threatened me. ‘DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? I’M A CIVIL SERVANT YOU KNOW!’ Mr All-Important-Civil-Servant, if you didn’t do anything wrong, why did you hastily drive away then? Mr All-Important-Civil-Servant, you are a disgrace to the public administration. I humbly suggest you use your Skillsfuture credits for a parking refresher course. Or basic etiquette. Or language improvement.

A MESSAGE TO OUR CIVIL SERVANTS & ELDERLY FOR GE2015

My fellow voters who work for the civil service, you might feel obligated to vote for the PAP because of their policy to pay you well but please remember that your salary comes from Singaporeans’ tax monies and NOT from the PAP’s bank accounts. Hence, even if the opposition wins and replaces the PAP, you should NOT fear for your paycheque or your job.

DID POLICE TOP DOG AC MELVIN YONG BREACH THE CIVIL SERVANT’S CODE OF CONDUCT?

The Straits Times had earlier reported that the Singapore Police Force (SPF) has confirmed AC Yong’s last day of work is co-incidentally today, 16 August [Link]. In other words, AC Yong is still a civil servant up until 2359 hours today. Since AC Yong is still a civil servant today, do you think he has breached the Code of Conduct laid down by PSD, by clearly participating in a political walkabout together with PAP politician Chan Chun Sing?

FORMER CIVIL SERVANT: PLEASE STOP COMPARING LHL TO LKY!

I think that complaints are good, it helps one to know where had gone wrong, and to strive to do better. However, a complaint will turn bad with the use vulgarities. Below every article, in the comment section, there are bound to be some people out there, complaining about the govt, oh wait, I dint say that complaining isn't good. But pinpointing a person isn't good. "PM LHL XXXX XXXX XXX", "YOU ARENT LIKE YOUR FATHER", "SG IS GONNA FALL" all these comments of cursing and swearing, are really unforgivable, and actually to be honest, I actually feel sad for our PM.
