EMERGENCY BRAKES BLAMED FOR TODAY’S CIRCLE LINE DISRUPTION

Seems like the authorities today are blaming the emergency brakes applied for an unknown reason for today's Circle Line train disruption. It was indicated that applied emergency brakes rendered the train inoperable near Marymount station during this morning's peak period. The faulty train then had to be pushed out by another train. This latest in a long list of train disruptions again affected thousands of commuters on their way to work and what would be the first day back at school for students after their September break.

LTA HAVING REDUNDANT MRT STATIONS NAMING EXERCISE FOR THE PUBLIC

The Circle Line was officially opened in 2009, and that it is taking this long to actually finally complete the loop is a mark of how 'perfect' the planning for the Circle Line had been. In fact, by the time the Circle Line is completed, many other new lines would have been operational and running by then. The opening of naming the stations to the public is a common exercise that LTA undertakes for all of its newest MRT stations. Among other criteria, the station names should help commuters identify where the station is located easily. So, why not just remove this act of giving the public a voice, by just naming the stations Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward stations. After all, that's where these stations are to be located, and the public can identify the locations of the stations easily if they were so named. So LTA, stop wasting time by having a redundant naming exercise.

MRT CIRCLE LINE TO FINALLY BE A CIRCLE BY 2025, 7 YRS FOR 3 NEW STATIONS

The Circle Line of the MRT will finally be a completed circle, true to its name, by 2025. LTA announced that the construction works for three new stations in the line will begin first quarter 2018. Always was a bit funny when the Circle Line is mentioned, for it is not actually a circle like it is meant to be. But with this extension, the line will have an additional 4km of extension, and three new stations, namely Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward. But the real question is, why take 7 years to essentially build three stations? No doubt, land would have to be cleared to make way for this extension, but 7 years for 3 new stations? Isn't that a bit too long a timeframe?

So when our Circle Line had problems with signal interference, it presented an opportunity for them to help and put their expertise to good use.

Our trains are no longer reliable? I was waiting for the train at the platform on Thursday morning, a day after another round of breakdown from the Circle Line. I overheard 2 staff speaking to each other. They were talking about the breakdown. What caught my attention about the conversation was this phrase, "When I heard the breakdown on Circle Line, my heart was thumping so hard. I'm very worried that it will happen here."
