PAP’S MEDIA CENSORSHIP IS DUMBING DOWN S’POREANS & DOING MORE HARM THAN GOOD

Media control has resulted, for instance, in prime-time fare on MediaCorp channels comprising almost entirely gameshows, sitcoms, and TV dramas. The few current affairs programmes on offer are effectively government infomercials. Decades of censorship and strict administration of Lee-ism have made Singapore virgin territory as far as critical thinking goes. It should be unneeded to point out that the dumbing down of society kneecaps our quest to transform our economy.

DR CHEE: PAP MAKING S’POREANS PAY & PAY DURING TIME OF ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTY

The PAP has done it again. The govt announced this week that ERP charges at 4 gantries (2 at PIE and 2 at CTE) will be increased. Another ERP will be activated along the KPE. Then today, PAP Town Councils announced that S&CC fees will be increased in June. We've said repeatedly that when you give PAP a blank cheque, they'll happily cash it after the elections.

DR CHEE: THE NEW WORLD IS MAKING S’PORE IRRELEVANT BUT THE PAP STILL DONT GET IT

THE BACKLASH AGAINST globalisation has never been stronger, the oil and gas industry is in the doldrums and seems far from recovering, the adoption of clean energy is moving faster than anyone had anticipated, China is aggressively investing in infrastructure in Malaysia and beyond, and jobs are being rapidly lost to automation. These developments are conspiring to render Singapore irrelevant to the world. Make no mistake: A crisis is in the making, that is, if it's not already upon us.

DR CHEE: ACS BARKER HAS BEEN ENGINEERED FOR MAXIMUM CAPACITY, JUST LIKE SINGAPORE

My mind returned to the present and it dawned on me how much the multi-storey buildings, squished up against one another, resembled the HDB jungle. Even the school field, where many a scrape and bruise was inflicted, was missing, replaced by a carpark that shouldered a swimming pool above. A boarding school for foreign students was even jammed into the premises. Every square foot of real estate was manicured, exquisitely engineered for maximum capacity.

PM LEE BRANDS USA ELECTIONS UGLY BUT OWNSELF MUDSLINGS DR CHEE DURING BB BY-ELECTION?

Lee Hsien Loong slammed the recent US Presidential Elections as an "ugly election season" in which both candidates said things that would need to be "unspeak". If he had a mirror, he would have seen his own ugly reflection staring at him. Didn't he and his comrades shamelessly engaged in personal attacks against Dr Chee despite the latter trying to engage the PAP at the policy level during the Bukit Batok By-Elections?

SDP: TIME TO REVIEW OUR “EXCEPTIONAL” MINISTER’S SALARIES & WHY

Municipally, there has been a horrific spate of mishaps including HDB-lift malfunctions which killed a man and severely injured two women. Heavy concrete structures on HDB blocks in Choa Chu Kang, Tampines and MacPherson estates crumbled off due to shoddy construction which could have ended in fatalities. Then there is, of course, the interminable breakdowns of the MRT system which the authorities remain at a loss on how to fix. The pedestrian leadership deserves a salary level that is commensurate with its ability. The ministers must go beyond a symbolic salary cut – that is, if they are thinking of staging a show of “solidarity” with the people.
