JOSEPH SCHOOLING IN FINAL OF 50M BUTTERFLY EVENT IN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Joseph Schooling has qualified for the final of the 50m butterfly event in the World Swimming Championships in Budapest. His time of 22.93s in the semi finals of the event last night puts him as fifth fastest qualifier for the final.

The final will take place on Monday night. Singapore's other representative, Quah Zheng Wen, will also begin his first event, the 100m backstroke, on Monday. All the best for Singapore's swimming heroes!

LKY WINS MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL SERIES BADMINTON TITLE

Kean Yew is currently World No 307, and this is his first tournament win since 2014. he had defeated the 16th, 12th and 10th seeds en route to the Malaysian final. The International Series tournaments represents the fourth level of Badminton World Federation events. Kean Yew is currently serving his NS, and his win was a pleasant surprise even for the Singapore Badminton Association.

I feel sorry because people who would not have given you the time of day are now rushing to ride on the coat tails of your victory. A wise person once said... "if you're absent during my struggle, don't expect to be present during my success." We were absent during your struggles. And yet, we are present during your spoils.

SINGAPORE PRODUCES FIRST JIU JITSU WORLD CHAMPION

A Singaporean was crowned world champion last week at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship (WPJJC). Kon Hui Quek, 39, became the first local to win a world title in professional jiu jitsu when he emerged tops in the 75kg Brown Belt Male Masters 2 category.
