Ex-DBS CECA Employee Accuses Singapore Of Practicing Racism

In August 2018, a former DBS Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) employee caused controversy when he posted an image of a Singapore flag being torn apart to reveal the India national flag. He was investigated and eventually let off with a stern warning from the Singapore police. CNA wrote an article that ended with him declaring his "unwavering" view about how he "still feel this (Singapore) is the best country in the world". PAP MINISTER PROMISES TO CONCLUDE INDIA CECA AGREEMENT, MORE FOREIGN TALENTS INCOMING?

Despite widespread misgivings among S'poreans at the effects of the CECA with India, primarily revolving around the clause recognising the qualifications of Indian nationals in 127 professions opening the door for them to work here, the PAP is going ahead to conclude the Agreement with the south Asian giant. The aforesaid clause has already been implemented in certain PMET sectors such as banking and this has resulted in an influx of foreign Indian nationals into the foreign banks to the extent that places like MBFC and CBP have been renamed by locals as Mumbai Financial Centre and Chennai Business Park.

LEE HSIEN LOONG TOTALLY OUTSMARTED BY INDIA’S CECA AGREEMENT?

Twelve years ago on 29 June 2005, PM Lee triumphantly went to India to sign the free trade agreement, the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement or CECA, with the Indian government. Hence with CECA, Indian IT companies like Wipro or Infosys can exploit the "intra-corporate transfer" loophole, to move large number of Indian IT workers into Singapore since CECA does not set any quotas. They do not have to hire a single Singaporean in their Singapore-based subsidiaries. Before the PAP govt notices, tens of thousands of Indian IT workers have already quietly entered Singapore with many of them working and settling in the East side of Singapore, creating their own enclaves.
